The Beast singles. Wilkerson almost made the diving catch, but was ruled to have trapped it. It sounds like the field is wet and Wilkerson was tentative getting there.

Yeah, dont want to injure yourself laying out for one in ST.

It's interesting that the Cubs are giving Pie some ABs at a corner OF position. Who knows, they may move him if they sign Pierre longterm; it gives them the option of bringing him up to replace Jones or Murton plus, they have the flexibility to trade Jones if Pie blossoms... Of Course, his value isn't as great outside of CF but you never know.

I wasn't in favor of giving Furcal the offer he wanted, but at least we'd have gotten our leadoff hitter at SS. Pie would have been valuable in CF.

I think that is the idea that the cubs are pursuing here. Pierre gives this team exactly what they have needed for awhile a great leadoff guy. I just dont see Pie as a great leadoff guy. I think in 2007 you will see Murton-Pierre-Pie outfield, with Jones (if still here) splitting some time with Pie. Sure wont be much power though.

Eaton is going out of the game. Line drive smash to the upper arm. That sucks.

Wow, hope he's ok. They traded a young promising pitcher (Young) to get him didnt they?

Yup. Chris Young. Some say he's better now than Eaton is. i think that's a little wishful thinking, but he could very well be better than Eaton fairly soon.

Actually thinking about it that would be crazy low power production.

Murton= 20-25 homers

Pierre= 3 homers

Pie= probably 15 homer guy at the pro level.

So that would be 43 homers out of our starting outfield in 2007 (if this lineup does happen). Wow thats pretty bad.

Yeah I didnt like the trade much, I think Young will benefit from playing in SD and I could see him passing Eaton soon.
