I'm thinking about giving it a try this year. Can anyone give me the rundown on it? A few questions that come to mind: Can you save games to your hard drive to watch any time/burn to dvds/etc.?, what/how many spring training games do you get? If a spring game whose home team is in my blackout area (cubs) but not on wgn/comcast/wciu/cltv would i still get it? Can I watch blacked out games after they have been played?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, there's no way to save the games. Although every game is archived during the season and you can watch it at any time. I think you get every spring training game that's televised, though I'm not sure about blackout restrictions for those games. Yes, you can watch blackout games after they've been televised.

I like it. Video quality isn't amazing, but it's good enough. And I think it's about 30 seconds behind actual live action. But I'm getting it again, if that tells you anything.

When I lived in New Hampshire in 2003 and 2004, it worked brilliantly. Like said, the video quality isn't great, but if you put it at full screen and sit far enough away from the monitor, I don't really notice the difference. Make sure your zip code isn't in the blackout range, it can extend pretty far

I think you can save the game once they've been played.

I've had it the past 2 or 3 years and loved it. It was great to sit in the recliner, let the wife watch whatever she wanted and I'd watch the game on the laptop.

However, this year, I'm going all-out and getting the games on the satellite.

My wife can watch her shows in the den. . .. the big screen is mine this year!

Thanks for all the help so far.

So the only cub games that they would show would be the ones already on wgn etc. ?

For Spring training? Probably, unless maybe the team they're facing is broadcasting it.

You'll also get the Comcast Sports Net broadcasts along with broadcasts from the other teams city/area while playing the Cubs.

I like to run RCA audio and video cables from my video card to the TV. At full screen it looks a bit better on the TV cuz your sitting further away.

You cannot save the broadcasts as they're streaming media. With Realplayer Plus, I think you can save the archived vids.

I've always wondered if I could put an address from a foreign country in my settings and get no blackouts. I live in blackout areas for St. Louis and Houston which makes it impossible for me to see 5-8 games a year (depending what's on locally/ESPN).

I'm pretty sure the zip code verification has been out of the formula since before 2005. Last I heard, they blacked games out based on your computer's IP address. I do remember hearing a slightly illegal way to re-route that IP in order to cheat the system, however, I don't recall how you do it. There's also a program out there that will record streaming media. Again, it's a pretty sketchy program and probably not on the up and up. But...if nobody knows...nobody gets hurt. Jack Bauer would find a way to get around it. And I'm certain Tony Almeda would too.

As of last year, the workaround still was effective. I got all of the blacked out games I wanted. There are many sites where you can find an IP.

FWIW, you can be fined $100 and have the subscription cancelled with no refund and you 'may be subject to legal action'.
