Need some insight on some potential OF keepers. I'm in a 16 team auction-keeper league (12 keeps per season, $260, 5x5. 3 year player contracts) and am not sure which OF's are worth keeping. Each team has 5 OF spots.

The OF's:

Murton - $4

Brian Anderson - $4

Hermida - $4

Delmon Young - $1

I like all these guys, however I only have 5 OF spots (and 2 UTL spots they could fit into). This is the fourth year of the league, which means all the top tier OF's 3 years ago are now up for auction (i.e., Beltran, Bonds, Manny,Abreu,Vlad, etc.) will be available. I only want to keep 3 of these guys as I'd like to use the last two spots on top tier guys in the auction.

If Young makes the squad, is there any of these guys you wouldn't keep for the above values?

I'd keep Young regardless of whether he makes in TB at all this season (Unless this is the third year of his contract for your league).

Young has incredible potential, and while the rest of these guys are almost assured starting spots this year, none have the potential that delmon has.

I agree - I want to keep Delmon as long as possible. However - in our league we can only keep players in our minors for one year - or until they make the major league club. I'm REALLY hoping Delmon makes it, but I know as of right now its 50/50.

he SHOULD make it at some point to the majors this season, barring injury or total stupidity on the Rays' part.

Problem is he's blocked pretty badly. The D'Rays have Travis Lee and Aubrey Huff at 1b. In the outfield, they have Baldelli, Crawford, Gomes, Danny Bautista, Damon Hollins and Joey Gathright.

I suppose they could still stick Young in RF and go with Gomes and Huff as a DH platoon, but why start Young's option clock with all the blockage unless he's playing everyday?

I'm still surprised they haven't dealt one of their plethora of OF's. Huff at first, Crawford in Left, Baldelli in center, Young in right, Gomes at DH.

Seems pretty simple to me :D

Good point on the option clock though, I had not thought about that.

Huff has been moved to 3B. So, that should put Lee at 1B (I don't know if Gomes can play there), Gomes at DH, and Delmon in RF. So, everyone should be able to play. I'm guessing Gathright gets traded before the season.
