Remember when we had Grace and Dave Magadan at the corner positions? Talk about no pop.

I thank Grace for his years of service, but I get irritated every time he opens his mouth. He's a terrible announcer, too. He tries so hard to be folksy.

I think NSBB should have a designated "slumpbuster".

I'm not volunteering though.

I've heard him tell this story or ones like it on the Jim Rome show. Great radio!

Ditto. Grace is a legend in the Jungle, though he recently lost his top interview title to Steve Elkington because Grace hasn't been on in a while.

War my boy Gracie returning to the Jungle and reclaiming his title!

As Mark told it in "Cubs Nation" by Wojo (fantastic book, read it read it read it), the Cubs kept telling him that they'd get a deal done with him after they took care of their other offseason needs and then ultimately just didn't make him an offer, leaving him to fend for himself with very little time left in the offseason. He claimed that he would've understood if they'd kicked him out the door in favor of Choi as long as they'd been honest about it.

And he is a bald faced liar too. NONE of this is true.

I never got why Grace was such a hero to everyone. He was a good ballplayer, yes, but for a lot of people who say they hate Sammy because of the corking and alleged steriods, I find it wholly ironic that they adore Grace who once said, "If you're not cheating, you're not trying."

There, I said it.

I don't understand the point of what Grace said concerning cheating? He made fun of the situation with Sosa (who we all know didn't get along with Grace). Grace himself said he was teasing Sammy, who got upset with Mark.

Besides, I think it is an old baseball saying. Still crappy to cork your bat. Shows a lot about a person.

Grace = greatness.

I still like Gracie, even though he's obviously annoyed with Chicago and it shows.

Oh well. It's not going to be a love-fest with every former player. Just the way it is. Especially when your team is the Cubs so you know there's no actual *winning* to smooth out the rough edges.

I think Grace still loves the Cub fans, and vice-versa. As Cub fans, we really don't have a reason to dislike the guy - he obviously wanted to play his entire career in Chicago, and his bitterness stems from not being able to realize that dream.

I will still wear my Grace Cub jersey on game day. With zero hesitations. He was a great Cub.

If you're going to throw cheating in there, you may as well kick Gaylord Perry out. He doctored balls for years and people pretty much applaud him for it.

Gracie was a hard-nosed ballplayer who always gave 100%. Baseball would be a much better game if every player followed his example on the field*.

*note I said "on the field" and not off of it.

That's fine with me. As far as I'm concerned, if you can define what cheating is, and you can prove that it occurred according to the definition, then I'm all for going back and throwing folks out. No problems with it whatsoever.

I don't care if it brings HOF membership down to 0 either (because I know that's what many will say).
