Moulds wouldn't be a bad option. Sure, I think Berrian, Curry, and Bradley are good young players (I'm not including Gage because we've seen him, and he isn't very good). However, none of these guys have stayed healthy. Bradley is coming off his second major knee injury (I'm pretty sure) Berrian has fought injuries in his career, and Curry hasn't even stepped on the field yet.

While, I'm willing to go with the receiving core we have, it's certianly a risk to assume they will be healthy. I wouldn't be upset if we picked up Moulds, assuming the price is right.

Edit: Not to say Moulds has been the picture of health, but it would give us more depth and talent at the position.

Yeah, I admit that the young WRs haven't been too healthy, which is a problem. But I wouldn't pay the money for a #2, when Muhammad is really best suited as a 2.

Yeah, let's grab TO and call it a day.

I'd rather have TO than Moulds.

Yes.

I agree that Muhammed is more like a #2 right now. But he probably thinks he's a #1. Let's just say for a minute the Bears could get assurances that TO would behave. And let's say the Bears find a deal that can work for him and them, and the cap. Now, do you think there's anyway that TO and MM, two type A personality WR who have both blown up to certain extent when they don't feel they are being used properly, could co-exist?

I'd like to find out. I think TO might view his next deal as possibly his last chance to make big cash.

FoxSports is reporting that the Vikings have traded Culpepper to the Dolphins for a 2nd round pick.

Wow, back to back years where the Vikings trade their best player for pennies on the dollar.

Interesting...I'd been hearing that Brees was likely to end up with the Dolphins...guess that ends that.

Wow. Unlike most, I think Culpepper is a good QB and wasn't "made" by Randy Moss. Great move by the Dolphins.

I wouldn't say pennies. The Dolphins are going to have to pay Culpepper $8 million on Friday if they can't renegotiate his contract.

I think the Vikes did pretty well on a player with three of four torn ligaments in his knee.

I thought it wasn't determined whether Culpepper would even be able to play........ever.

Certainly he won't be back by the opener----maybe mid-season from what I heard. But I also heard he might not ever be the same. If his legs don't work like they used to, he's nothing. I hope the Phins got more than just one medical opinion, because that's a big contract. Still, possibly very high reward---I can't totally blame them for taking the shot.

Anyway that just further weakens the North. Brad Johnson was fine as an emergency substitute when opposing teams were expecting Culpepper. He won't go anywhere with teams gearing up for him from the start.

I'm glad we aren't overspending in Free Agency. The way I see it, all our rivals are rebuilding with new coaches, new primary skill players, new everything. I see no reason the Bears don't run away with this division in '06. Rookie coaches very seldom are able to grab a division crown from an established club, especially when they have to deal with a new QB and other skill players, along with new offensive schemes and the whole bit.

Lots of moves.

Culpepper to Miami

Kitna to Detroit

David Givens to Tennessee

Antonio Bryant to SF

Schoebel to Philly

Mike Anderson/Jamal Lewis to Baltimore

In regards to the injury:

The acquisition of Culpepper is contingent on him passing a Dolphins-administered physical exam.

I also heard that Culpepper is "ahead of schedule" on his rehab.

I'm not sure how signifigantly his injury will effect his play. It will limit his mobility, but Culpepper's value is as a pocket passer.

The Bears are getting me more upset every day.

Why?

I would've liked to see Brees here.

I would have liked it as well, but does it make sense to be mad that he's not? And has he signed yet? It sounded like New Orleans was ready to give him a ton of cash, and can offer a wide open QB position. The Bears don't have a wide open QB position, nor do they have a reason to spend big on another QB. And when you take into account Brees' injury, it didn't make much sense for the Bears.

I'm def not mad and I'm actualy kind of glad they are not spending their money on 2nd tier players but getting a better QB would have been nice.

That might be the first time I've heard that statement.

That Culpepper's value is as a pocket passer? At this point in his carrer, I'm not sure how you can say otherwise. I'm pretty sure the Dolphins didn't trade for his ability to run for 400 yards but more for his ability to throw for 4700 yards and 39 TD's.

Ability to do something he only did once 2 years ago when he had the game's best receiver? Culpepper is a drop back and chuck it passer, not a pocket passer.

What? My original comment was directed at the statement that Culpepper wouldn't ever play again or never be the same because if his knee injury. I said that it wouldn't be detrimental because his value comes from throwing the ball from the pocket. If you are taking issue with the whole "pocket passing" thing and would like to replace it with "drop back and chuck it passer" go ahead. My point remains the same. Culpepper's value is in his arm and not his legs.
