Here's something from the crazy idea department. The Blue Jays are pretty much confirmed to be shopping Koskie. He's had two down years in a row, and will be 33 next season. Has played 3rd for most of his career, but he did play 25 games in RF during the '99 season. Owed 11.5 million over 2 years, the Jays were willing to eat 3 of that to send him to the Twins, they refused.

Like Jones, he should never ever face a left handed batter. He pounds righties.

On this team, I could see him sharing at bats against righties with Murton in left field. Then he could be used to spell Aram (what a concept! try to keep him healthy...). Heck, I could see him spelling Derek Lee assuming he can catch the ball well enough. Add on top of that he'd be the primary masher off the bench when there's a righty pitching.

The cost would be minimal, prospects and taking on $8 mil in payroll over the next two years. And he could probably be used as trade bait at midseason if a team has a 3B need.

Not a great acquisition or one that will really put us over the top, but if he could be gotten cheaply (maybe you could get the Jays to eat more salary), it might not be a bad choice.

They have a similar version of Koskie in Mabry, doesn't have the offensive ceiling as Koskie, but can hit from the same side and plays several positions.

They need to fill one spot on the bench, RH'ed OF/IF w/pop.
