Morris was the kind of "pure hitter" that old-timers and anti-sabermetricians love -- meaning he could hit for average but not with substantial power. His .304 career batting average might garner a token vote or two before he exits the HOF ballot after his first and only year. After all, if he wasn't good enough to play on an All-Star team, how could he be could enough to play in Cooperstown?
