Maybe it was the pressure of playing in New York, I don't know. I never had the urge to take any of that stuff before, but I was talking to some guys, and they guaranteed it would get the pain out.

If you believe his story, sure. Heck, he essentially admits in his confession that he has a strong reason to lie about when and why he took them.

Why does being honest help him get a contract? Wouldn't lying in an attempt to remove the negative stigma help him more? And he admitted to it right as the result came out.

I think we're going to see a lot more players fessing up after getting caught. They have seen the public reaction to Raffy's BS and know that nobody believes the denials. The players who will continue to lie are the ones who have a shot at the Hall of Fame. I don't expect Sammy to ever admit to cheating.
