- Mariners send Jeremy Reed to Boston for Matt Clement.

- Cubs send Corey Patterson and a prospect to Mariners for Raul Ibanez.

- Cubs send Raul Ibanez, Rich Hill and an OF prospect for Bobby Abreu.

- Phillies sign Jeff Weaver (and move Burrell to RF).

Apparently, Seattle wants Arroyo over Clement.

The Red Sox have reportedly approached the Mariners about center fielder Jeremy Reed and have offered starter Matt Clement in return. The Mariners reportedly countered by asking for Bronson Arroyo.

But as for the gist of the post, I think Philly wants more for Abreu. I still don't know what they are gonna do with Michaels (who's a bench player at this point), but I think they want a more established arm if they are getting rid of Abreu. The deal gives the money to go after Weaver, but I think they have better courses of action.

A four team trade? Impossible!

It is going to take a multi-team trade in order to bring the likes of Bobby Abreu to the Cubs. But how are you going to get Jeff Weaver to sign with the Phillies? Too bad sign-and-trade deals are not allowed.

Wouldnt these just be two or three separate trades. The deal between SEA and BOS have no effect on our deal between SEA and PHI. I think this is highly unlikely, but interesting to consider.

Not really a 4-team trade. It's 3 seperate trades involving 4 teams. But yeah, it's gonna take another team to get Abreu to the Cubs.

It has an effect. If Seattle doesn't trade Reed, then there's no reason for them to take Patterson.

Is the Clement bridge burned? His contract looks great all of the sudden and he'd step in and be #3 in this rotation.

But don't you question his mental toughness? I do. I did when he was here also.

I say been there, done that.

That baseball to the head knocked the mental toughness into him. Seriously though, starting pitching should be considered after we fill the incomprehensibly void black hole in RF.
