Cubs Lead MLB With 6 National League Gold Glove Finalists

I'd be surprised if Pete doesn't win Plat Glove as well.

Hoerner will be looking for his second Gold Glove Award in the last three seasons. He led second basemen in nearly every single defensive category, and he is the resounding favorite to win the hardware.

Happ has won the award each of the previous three seasons and that is unlikely to change again this season. Happ would become the first Cubs left fielder to ever win four straight Gold Glove Awards at the position.

The remainder of the group will all be looking for their first ever Gold Glove. We all know the defensive brilliance shown from Shaw and Crow-Armstrong this season. Kelly was excellent behind the plate this season and Boyd leading MLB in pickoffs certainly put him in position to win the award for the first time in his career.

As things stand, Hoerner, Happ, Crow-Armstrong, and potentially Boyd appear to be favorites at their respective positions. Patrick Bailey (catcher) and Ke'Bryan Hayes (3B) will make it virtually impossible for Kelly and Shaw to win, however.

The winners at each position will be announced Sunday, Nov. 2 on ESPN.

6 and Busch and Swanson were not even nominated. Very impressive defensive team. 

I think the Cubs could walk away with four gold gloves this year. Part of me thinks four for one team feels absurd and that voters will have some fatigue, but in terms of NL ranks at their position you have:

PCA; 1st in OAA, 1st in DRS
Nico: 1st in OAA, 1st in DRS
Happ: T-1st in OAA, 1st in DRS
Boyd: lead the league in +9 RV in limiting bases and 1st in pickoffs

Yep, I agree. I think it's a bit insane that neither Swanson nor Busch (Bush especially) were nominated for one. Spencer Steer instead of Busch was kind of crazy in my opinion

Imagine if we had pitching depth to go with that defense. 

Webb has a very good reputation so I wouldn't be surprised to see him take that one over Boyd.  I figured there would be a similar situation for Happ in LF, but Kyle Stowers got nominated and that man is a danger to himself in the outfield so I guess it's a really weak position.

The thing about PCA is that he can still get better. He flubbed a few easier balls this year. If he cuts those out he is the best defensive player in baseball (and he still may be anyways). 

Shocked Dansby wasn't a finalist. I expect PCA to win. Hoping Happ and Nico get theirs. That will probably be it. Hard to beat out the Giants at P and C. and Ke'Bryan Hayes is pretty elite at third.

In the AL, Ernie Clement was a finalist at both 3B and Utility. Stuffing the ballot!

Harper is also nominated. No fricken way he is a better defensive 1st baseman than Busch.
