  1. Well, the last 2 pen guys we signed for 3 years were Remlinger, who was used incorrectly and then finally showed his age in the 3rd year, and Hawkins, who just wilted in the spotlight. I don't think Dempster will wilt, as he's been closing all season, and he's still a young guy comparatively, so there's not too much to worry about there. Besides, by the time the 3rd year comes around the next wave of arms should be coming through, so we might have a replacement in place this time. Agreed. This year Demspter has proven that he can close for US. I thought he would sign for 4mil but that's ok. If he can pitch how he did this year for us we're good.
  2. It would be dumb to decline the opton on Williamson.
  3. THis is a great move. Dempster has been one of the bright spots thisd year. I'm guessing he will make 4mil per.
  4. I think that at least 2 of his 5 blown saves have come from us. I'm pretty sure its at least blown saves.
  5. No, thank you to Lofton. He is getting close to 40!!
  6. Its time for Corey and the Cubs to move on. I dont think he will ever get it.
  7. Theres nothing more to be said. Hendry needs to step up and improve this pathetic team. I have a feeling with a weak FA class it won't happen.
  8. I would worry about finding 3 starting OF for us over a 4th(bench) OF.
  9. Well, it def won't be the Cubs that's for sure.
  10. I always look at the stats but this year I dont have to. I can see with my own eyes that this team sucks. It's embarrassing. I'm so disgusted right now that I cant wait for the season to be finished already and hope to not see Baker the clown for a looong time (hopefuly NEVER).
  11. You might have to change your name at least...maybe "LastYearofDaCubs" Haha.
  12. Next year might be my last year as a Cubs fan. Thats how bad I see things right now.
  13. haha the losers lose again. Bases loaded nobody out and they cant score..how pathetic is this team?
  14. I'm not a fan of Millwood. Sure, he did good for the Indians this year but what about last year when he pitched for the Phillies? He might be more of a risk than Burnett. I just like Burnett better. He's the type of pitcher I would like to have that is all. 2002: 1.15 WHIP, .230 BAA, .627 OPS 2003: 1.25 WHIP, .250 BAA, .691 OPS 2004: 1.46 WHIP, .278 BAA, .774 OPS 2005: 1.24 WHIP, .250 BAA, .696 OPS K/9 and K/BB stay basically constant all 4 years. Methinks that 2004 is more of an aberration than 2005. Possibly. His numbers are weird. He goes from a 4era to a mid 2era back to 4 back to 3 and so on. Very inconsistent. Last years ERA was his highest. I dont know what to make of it. Burnett You hate* Millwood for his inconsistency, but want Burnett? That seems odd to me. I'd call Burnett inconsistent before Millwood. Remember, Millwood was also affected by the opening of Philly's new park. Sorry, I shouldn't have said hate, it was more like distaste.

  17. Good way to put it. I would love to have him here but I doubt we go after him.
  18. I personally dont care. We didnt make the playoffs and thats the only thing that counts to me.
  19. Yes you can, and I agree that all 3 have been busts for us this year. There's no excuse.
  20. Come on now, the man deserves a 2 year extension....I cant stand Dusty.
  21. Borowski was good for us before his injury and I do not believe it was smoke and mirrors, but since the injury he is damaged goods.
  22. Does anyone have his numbers out of the pen this year? Not counting today's game: 4-0, 1.99 ERA, 54.1 IP, 44 H, 1 HR, 24 BB, 47 K Gentlemen, we have found our closer. If we can re-sign him for a reasonable price, then I would be all for it. Much rather sign Dempster for half of what it would cost to sign an aging vet like Billy Wagner. BJ Ryan could be an intriguing possibility, but demand for him is likely to be high. The fact that Dempster's numbers as a starter helps make his overall stats look more pedestrian probably works to our favor. AGreed. I was thinking the same thing.
