  1. Add me to the list.
  2. I personally think there is no logic in having Macias here in the first place.
  3. Where does haste come into play? It's a simple decision. Macias is a worthless baseball player. His presence on the team hurts the teams chances to win. Get rid of him. Burnitz's option is ridiculously overpriced, there's no good reason to bring him back next year. Decline the option. Walker at $2.5m is extremely valuable, pick up the option. Nomar is a nice option if he's cheap in terms of a guarantee, let it be known that you'd be interested in having him back. Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. Macias, Perez and Burnitz are all wasting extremely valuable 40 man roster space. Get rid of them now before you overlook them later and forget to protect someone of actual value. Do you really think Hendry would overlook players on his roster? You guys must think he's an idiot. Two words. Andy Sisco Fact: Andy Sisco was not protected last year and Jose Macias was. I'm just sayin'. Are there people on this forum that still have confidence in Hendry? I sure don't.
  4. What kills me is as fans we see exactly what needs to be upgraded, who to give opportunities to, who to have lead off, who to sign or trade for. Ok, well is management that dumb they cannot see the blatantly obvious situation here? I thought these guys lived and breathed baseball and do it for a living? Well coulda fooled me. Typical Chicago organization. Make it or break it time as far as I'm concerned.
  5. Hendry's name was mentioned in pursuit Preston last offseason and at the trade deadline. Doom and Gloom baby!
  6. Don't ever count out the Cardinals. Some people were ?ing their moves this past off-season but it worked out for them. We need to a few thigns to become contenders, although I personally feel that Hendry will fail us.
  7. Believe it or not I would prefer to see our OF talent be upgraded via trade if we can't get Giles to a good deal. If they can't get Giles, they have to upgrade via trade. Status quo is completely unacceptable. No way can we go into the season with our OF the way it is right now. If we do, Hendry will be exposed.
  8. How would you like Lofton at 2/$6m, along with Wilson for 2/$10-14m? Because that's probably the type of people Hendry thinks would help this team. How do you know what Hendry thinks (assuming that's a typo), and yes, I know you said "probably"? Just basing it on his history of overpaying for mediocrity, and ignoring the BB/OBP problem on this team. Lofton, in theory, isn't a bad option. But if Kenny gets more than 1 year, or more than $1-2 million, and he's guaranteed the CF/leadoff job, no matter how he performs, it's a bad move. I actually think it would be kind of interesting to have Corey/Kenny/Greenberg battling for CF. But that would only be acceptable if they go big in RF. And going off Hendry's history, I'm not certain he'd solve that RF problem with an impact bat. I totally agree with you. Ok. I'll agree that he doesn't have a history of great FA signings, but he has brought all of the offensive talent this team has over via trade (Ramirez, Lee, Barrett, Murton, Nomar). I think Lofton would be a decent stopgap, but I agree it has to be $2M for 1 year. I have to think he will keep CF open for Pie. That's what leads me to believe he won't go after Preston Wilson, who would take a multi-year deal. I hope at the very least RF is filled via trade with a capable bat. I just have no idea who that could possibly be, and it likely won't be anyone as good as Giles, who's ripe for the picking. Believe it or not I would prefer to see our OF talent be upgraded via trade if we can't get Giles to a good deal.

  10. Bottom line Lidge hanged it, but I agree with the rest of you. I would have walked Pujols.
  11. Just curious, why does a story about Felix getting busted equate to the policy being a joke? Does it have to bust bigger names to make it worthwhile? Palmeiro was a pretty big name if you ask me.
  12. I am not convinced that Wood will comeback 100% healthy and be able to contribute a full season, nor do I think anyone else can be certain. I'd like to think so, and I hope so, and I think theres a good chance, but this team cannot win with Williams, Maddux, and Guzman/Mitre in the rotation. I'd rather go the safe route and pick up another sure thing starter. Lowe is a good bet to do well in Wrigley with his extreme sinker. I like Nomar and I think his defensive deficiencies are overrated, so I'd be just fine with him at short, however I wouldnt mind giving Cedeno the job and using that money to make sure we sign Giles. However, I think if LA is taking money off their books its for the very specific reason of signing Giles themselves. Great points.
  13. I'm not a huge fan of Lowe but acquiring Milton Bradley and Luis Castillo would be huge. All we would need is another bat in RF and we would be stacked.
  14. You should go.
  15. IMO God and destiny have nothing to do with it. If the Cubs really want to win the WS it will hinge on the players we have, the manager, and most importanly how successful the GM will be. Hendry better get to work.
  16. Thank you. That's why I value Podsednik and Furcal a little more than others on here.
  17. Prior has only missed significant time once because of a predictable injury. I think if he stays away from Marcus Giles and moves out of the way of line drives, he's pretty reliable. He missed time in 2004 and in 2005 both injuries started before the season opener and went into the season. Significant or not that is two injuries in two seasons.
  18. Who cares what we had in 2003. All I care about now is what we will have in 2006. It's to the point where we can't rely on Prior and Wood anymore because of their injuries.
  19. Btw, taking a chance on Jenks really helped especially considering Hermanson got hurt.
  20. I can imagine the talking which would happen is they win the WS, but I for one rather have the WSox win it over the Cards and Stros. I was born and raised in Chicago and even though I am not a WSox fan, I am glad for the city to at least possibly taste a WS. As for us well...Same ol story year after year.
  21. I def do not think it is a fluke. Williams took the risk of getting rid of two of their top hitters and traded for Podz who is a good leadoff hitter, signed Dye to replace an injured Maggs and also picked up Pierzynski who has been excellent for them. His trades also brought in Contreras. No fluke at all. He took the risk and it paid off greatly. Hendry should write down some notes.
  22. I would think some Brave fans wouldn't like Cox because of his lack of success in the playoffs (I wouldn't be one of those if I had to be a Braves fan). Really though, if I was a Braves fan I would be concerned. How can you dominate your division win against other teams during the regular season and then get into the playoffs and always be knocked off in the first round? Not blaming Cox but as a fan it would bother me. Then again, at least they are always respectable and make it to the playoffs unlike another team we know.
  23. Hey is Garlands GF the girl from Smallvile?
