    If we can get Huff and Bradley I will be happy as long as Neifi isn't starting.

    Worst Case Scenario: Hendry goes into the season with Cedeno at SS and Neifi at 2b. Cedeno struggles out of the gate so Dusty decides to move Neifi over to SS and start Macias everyday at 2b. With Dusty this is very possible. I won't stand for either of the two being starters.

    I believe that not getting Furcal CAN be that bad. Considering Neifi might be the starter I can tell you right now the situation can get really ugly.

    Neifi a starter? It will probably happen but it is a move that will probably make me boycott the Cubs. I will not stand for Neifi as a starter in 2006. Guys, 100mil payroll we deserve better than to see Neifi as a starter for our team.

    I would have NO problems having Cedeno at SS, but there is this guy called Dusty who plays this one guy who isn't very good over Cedeno.

    when the hell did this happen? im just about done with the jerks who run the cubs hahah he seriously better be, otherwise that "its ok, lets let kerry throw out of the bullpen for no reason" thing is going to look mighty stupid. mighty stupid indeed seriously thatll be the last freaking straw, if wood isn't ready at the start of spring training, ill be comepltely done with the cubs. the a's might sign overrated pitchers to 3 year deals just like the cubs, but as least they dont charge their pitchers out there even though their hurt, AFTER the team is out of the race, no less. This organization never surprises me.

    Small correction, Don - the LA Times is reporting the $40 million, 3-year deal is from the Dodgers, not the Braves. Apparently Atlanta is still sitting in the 4/$36 range, so things really haven't changed from where they were a day or two ago. Also, just out of curiosity, is your screen name meant to be sarcastic? I only ask because recently I was thinking about the all-time worst Cubs players and saw that Kessinger was probably the worst hitter ever to play for the Cubs. (When "worst" is defined as lowest production * number of opportunities, that is.) I like Furcal and all but 13 mil per? I just dont believe it.

    i would say prior, wood & jobo getting injured had alot more to do with the 2005 failure than anything else. So you were actually counting on Borowski who was coming off a serious injury? Not a good idea. If we had a better offense chances are we would have made the playoffs in 2005. THe fact that Hendry made the team worse and the incompetence of the manager had more to do with it if you ask me.

    Pretty sure he just said it to get that moran Murph to shut his pie hole. No. actually he really meant it. He has been quoted in the past and I personally heard him say on a WGN interview he wants players who can catch the ball. There is no joke here unfortunately.

    what wrong with cedeno? I think most here would have no problem with Cedeno but with Neifi right there its a scary proposition. Cedeno and Castillo would have been nice but that isn't going to happen either. If we don't sign Furcal we might be in trouble.

    Throw a couple more arms at Tampa and get Lugo and Huff. Done. We land Lugo and Huff then Bradley and I will be one happy camper. Do you guys think Tampa will be more reasonable than during the season when they were supposedly asking for Z before talking about Huff? I think so because Lemar is gone now. At the same time nothing comes cheap.

    The Eyre signing doesnt bother me as much as the Neifi and Rusch signs. I liked the Howry signing.

    I don't know about "capable". I would seriously not watch this team if Neifi is our starting 2B. It's bad enough he is still here. Didn't he save the Cubs last year? edit - thats a joke. I always knew Baker was a Cards fan! :lol:
