  1. I don't know about "capable". I would seriously not watch this team if Neifi is our starting 2B. It's bad enough he is still here.
  2. I think Favre might get hurt in this game if he really thinks patience is the answer to beat this team. That being said this is the NFL and any team can win on any given Sunday. I think the Bears will win.
  3. HAHAHH WHAT A JOKE!! "If we pitch it good enough and we catch it good enough we'll win our share of games". Great way to end the interview. This catching the ball bs from Hendry is getting a bit ridiculous.
  4. If I was a Marlins fan I would be irritated but the fact that they have won two World Series within 10 years makes me have a bit more trust that they will be back. I wish I could say the same about our organization.
  5. I disagree with that, but it would have to take some extremely productive measures. Getting an above avg. CF'er and an elite OF'er would eliminate the trouble of not landing Castillo or overspending on Furcal. With the growing rumors about Manny wanting to go to the Angels, I wonder if Hendry will look west to G. Anderson, Finley or Vladdy daddy (yeah, right :cloud9: ). Finley and Anderson are terrible options when you consider age and injury problems and we all know Vlad isn't going anywhere.
  6. Good points! I'd rather see what he does in 2006 before signing him, though. His 2005 was good, not great. If he returns to his early Oakland days... extend that contract, baby. agreed and look at the cubs...it will be similar dlee up for fa.....5 yr 70mill? prior....lol...if burnett gets 4/40 prior4/50 aram making 10+ 4yrs/42 i think wood making 10ish furcal like they say another 10 z....when is his payday....? (if i am wrong chime in and dont flame me) IT IS SO EXPENSIVE TO BE COMPETITIVE I think the difference being that the Cubs have the ability to spend more money per season than the Cardinals do.
  7. Completely agree. If we don;t land Furcal we might be in a good amount of trouble.
  8. For the teams getting the players, it's great. But this is beyond disgraceful what the Marlins are doing. I know it's for financial reasons, but this is every bit as bad as the firesale before the 1998 season. It is a blackeye to baseball. The only redeeming thing is that the Twins aren't a big market team preying on the Marlins (unlike the Red Sox and Mets). Juan Pierre, your suitcase is packed. Athe same time they are picking up pretty good prospects and theoratically will be stacked with good players in 2 years. But realistically, we all know this has everything to do with them leaving Florida or at the very least getting a new stadium.
  9. Damn, I would have liked to see Castillo here. Excellent move by the Twins.
  10. That's my problem. I'm fine with Soriano as the 6th hitter on this team. The trade is a little silly, considering Mench is no more than a platoon player. But Soriano can't be anywhere near the top of the order, or considered the solution for all OBP problems. He'll get on less than Walker, and this would lead to a possible MI that combines for no better than a .300-.310 OBP, something that should be unacceptable. Believe it or not with all things considered I rather have Walker on this team over Soriano.
  11. I think Hendry has put all his eggs in the Furcal basket. If we indeed do not sign Furcal we might be in trouble. We will rely on trades and for the most part overpay for any player we want to trade for. The offseason just got even more interesting.
  12. Not surprised. I figured it will take until midseason for him to even be effective. Either way a deal close to Dempster or Williamson would be wise for the Cubs.
  13. I'm starting to think that trading for Castillo might be the best thing for us.
  14. And I'm pretty sure Finley has a bad contract to add to that.
  15. Then the Red Sox don't have to trade him. If he doesn't show up for spring training he's violating his contract. Red Sox might be able to void his contract. Let him sit out if he wants to. Not a bad strategy actually.
  16. He's only one year removed from a 38 HR campaign with a NL team. So what hes over 40. Amazing what contract years can do.
  17. Patterson for Finley? I hope this is just a rumor because Finley is 56 years old and he didnt exactly tear it up lats year either.
  18. I liked Giles but his age really scared me. He was going to be 35 and getting at least 3 years. That's a scary territory.
  19. If we don't sign Furcal we are in a world of trouble.
  20. If we don't sign Furcal we are in a world of trouble.
  21. Or maybe that deal never was really offered. That does seem like too many years to give to a 35 year old.
  22. We need to sign Furcal. I will not be able to stand a lineup with Neifi in it. This is a 100mil payroll team let's act like it.
  23. You're on point. If we indeed sign Furcal having Pierre is a waste. I would rather have the extra power in the OF. Bradley and Wilkerson fit the bill.
  24. I would like ot have both but if I had to choose one it would be Bradley.
