Hendry was on ESPN radio 1000 around 11am did anybody hear what he said? I heard tidbits unrelated to the Prior trade.

We won't be able to find players like Prior or Z though that's the problem.

We will regret it if we trade Z or Prior.

I also would like to add that we are not driving to the lane at all. That's we we only have 10-15 free throws per game while the other teams has like 30.

are you talking about his achilles injury? The elbow injury was simultaneous with the achilles injury. The elbow injury was speculation from a reporter in NJ. The achilles injury is what kept him off the mound. I think you have it backwards; the elbow issue was the real problem. How do you know that? Do you have insider info? The achilles injury is what kept Prior out.

I HIGHLY doubt that the only additional player it's going to take to get Hendry to throw in Pie is Jorge Julio. Hendry simply will not send Prior, Hill and Pie while only getting Tejada, Bedard and Julio in return. He's way too high on Hill and Pie to accept that. If Hendry trades Pie, Hill AND Prior....it's bye bye time. They won't make that trade. I'm thinking that everyone is going to continue freaking out about this possible trade for the next few weeks until it comes out that Prior will not be traded. Then everyone will breathe a big sigh of relief. Then we'll quickly realize that the Cubs still suck. I hate to say it but I hope you are right. Getting rid of Prior is not a good thing.

Why is Skiles taking the blame? We have no inside presence. That is huge. The players are also not playing as good D as last year that's the problem. TOs need to be minimized as well. Some of the passes we made yesterday really hurt us. Hinrich can really get on my nerves sometimes when he has bad games.

He didn't have surgery, but I'd characterize missing 2 months of a season as a "significant" injury. That was an achilles injury not an elbow injury.

Tejada is better than Furcal but actually Furcal DID allow the Cubs to counter and they were not willing to go over the 9mil per year they offered.

I would willingly give up any prospect asked for Tejada. Not Mark Prior though.

Having Nomar at 2B is a better risk to take than trading Prior for Tejada. Considering we also have Cedeno and Hairston I would risk having Nomar for one more year.

And to think we had Willis in the minors along with Prior and he looks to be the next one to be out.

maybe he's had injury problems, not all of them his fault, but he's hardly been inconsistent. that's a laugh. It's equally as laughable to just say...when he's been bad....it because of injuries. He was healthy for a lot of last year....and had some very rough outings. Your convinced Prior will be the Prior of 03 in the years to come....I'm not as sure as you are. One of us will be wrong. We shall see. prior last year: .227/.296/.394/.688 1.21 whip, 3.67 era, 188 SO in 167.2 innings. that was a "down" year. forget the fact that prior has just turned 25 years old for crying out loud. With an 11-7 record. Im not trying to argue he isn't great...or doesnt have tremendous "upside"....of course he does.....but there are some questions...and the trade is worth looking at. It's risky.....but huge reward moves in life are always risky. Thats just the way it is. If this trade does go down who do you expect to hold down the other opponents from scoring runs? Z, Wood, and Maddux? I will give you Z but Wood is a HUGE ? mark and Maddux is one year older and if history is any indicator of past performance Maddux will likely regress even more than last year. Our starting rotation would take a HUGE hit. I like Tejada and all but in my eyes he is not worth a Prior. He is also 30 and when you hit the 30 mark sometimes you start to lose your skill.

There's a reason no team in baseball thinks Nomar can play SS next year. I don't understand why people can't get that. Put him at 2B then and place Cedeno at SS. When we are talking about losing Mark Prior for a SS you have to wonder and think what other options were available. There's really no difference at 2B though and again no one in baseball was willing to put him there. He's restricted to 1B, 3B and LF at this point in his career. Yes, there is a difference playing 2B over SS are you serious? Imagine Walker playing SS? Be real if you ask me Nomar would fit right in at 2B that way Hendry can trade the "maligned" Walker away put Cedeno at SS, Perez the backup of SS and 2B as well as have Hairston there. If you ask me that works great and at the same time have Prior in the rotation.
