    That 7-4 Chargers team that lost: Opening day in Dallas without Antonio Gates by 4. 20-17 in Denver. 24-22 to Pittsburgh in SD By 3 to Philly on a very fluke special teams play. Chargers to me should be 9-2 (the Dallas and Philly games as being ones they should have won) and are talented enough on BOTH sides of the ball to possibly beat the Colts.

    Lee's agent (whose name escapes me) would be a fool to not seek a deal worth that kind of coin. And if the old 10 percent "rule" goes into effect (comparable players getting roughly 10 percent more each passing season) a 5/66 deal is what you'd be looking at. That is a lot of money to be tied up into a great player who would spend most of that contract leaving his prime years.

    I'm confused. You're seemingly totally opposed to dealing Derrek Lee before he gets a contract like these guys got in the past. How many people would want Lee for 12 million dollars for three more seasons if he struggles after 07?

    I have a bridge connecting two burroughs of New York City available for sale if you actually believe he is 25. Even if he's 28 or whatever, he's still baseball's best player. If he's 40 or something, that's a different story. i would have to give that to arod ahead of albert. when he's play ss his defense gives him the edge over pujols imo. I would take Pujols over ARod if I had to start my team. That isn't even counting in salary considerations.

    Is Pujols 30? Is Cabrera 30? Is Vlad 30 (well he almost is)? Pujols is baseball's best player and is only 25 years old. Cabrera hasn't even hit arbitration yet. Vlad is in the middle of a contract that he signed when was 27 years old. The situations have more factors than just on field performance. Let me say, if we DO keep Derrek Lee, I will not be unhappy. I'd just like to see Hendry explore what we could get for him. And if its a package loaded with great talent, it'd be a move he should consider.

    I think Lee is a great player, but I don't think he'll post another season like this again. I'm honestly shocked that Lee's agent isn't posturing with Jim Hendry right now for a Paul Konerko starting point extension. That's the part that scares me. If Lee was two years younger, you wouldn't see this out of me.

    As we go into the 2006 Season, Derrek Lee is coming off his best season and a year away from free agency. Now is the time to capitalize on his maximum value. Talks for Lee's next deal will likely start out with Paul Konerko's 5/60 deal. That's a lot of money and years for a guy who will finish that contract at age 36. Obviously dealing Derrek Lee would be like waving a white flag for 2006, but could save us loads of money for keeping Z, Prior, and putting other (younger players) around this ballclub. Hendry has seemingly shot the squad in the foot for 06 as it stands right now, so why not try and deal Lee while his value is at its pinnacle? I realize this isn't a new idea, but I'd love to see who people think we should try and target while trying to move Derrek Lee.

    Seattle is usually very tough at home. HFA is very crucial for them.

    What? Choi? LaTroy Hawkins? I would say we got good value for those guys despite driving their value into the ground. Patterson is still here. Until he is dealt and we know the package, how can you say that this is the case. If we deal him as a piece for Milton Bradley, is that still getting little to no return after driving his value into the ground? No arguments on Sosa or Farnsworth. At the beginning of last season, what would a guy like Jason DuBois have netted you? A 26 year old non hyped prospect doesn't bring much more than a type of guy that they got.

    Wait, teams KNEW the Phillies had to deal one of their first basemen. This isn't the same situation at all. While the Phillies weren't as forceful with their acknowledgement of a deal. But most everyone HAD to realize that they couldn't go another season with both Thome and Ryan Howard. They wouldn't do a platoon, Thome can only play first or DH. Howard can only play first. Other teams knew they were in a huge bind.

    Both were imbeciles during the interview. North bringing up the White Sox at every point is so useless when interviewing Dusty Baker.

    I haven't seen a team that could beat the Colts. MAYBE the Chargers. But I'd place those odds at maybe 20 percent or so. This Colts team is simply ridiculous.

    I'd be greatly disappointed. 200 innings should be the minimum for the kind of money Kerry is getting. Unless of course you're assuming he's in the pen, which I'd still be disappointed in since we're not getting the best value for our dollar.

    IG, you wouldn't be saying any of this stuff about Collins if he commited to U of I. And if you've seen Brian Carlwell play, you'd realize he's playing as a man amongst boys whose game isn't being enhanced. He's a few years away from being a legit player (if he becomes one). And the point on Scheyer, you really shouldl read up on GBN instead of just assuming its just him running that team. Zach Kelly and Sean Wallis are key contributors to that team as well. Crane plays in a very difficult conference and the Public League gets one, MAYBE two teams to state every year. Last year he had Ty Kent, but this year, he doesn't have all that much help outside of maybe Dion Dixon. Think of all the great teams in the public league, year in and year out: Westinghouse, Farragut, Simeon, Julian. Also there are programs like Lincoln Park and Marshall both look like they're real strong this season. IG, I highly recommend going to the Proviso West tournament this season and you will get a chance to see most of the great teams in the area.

    Agreed. And this is why people get discouraged over mediocre signings. Those signings are hindering us from following these feasible offensive numbers. If you had a team of Furcal Pierre (sub in who you wish for CF, this is just an example) Giles Lee Ramirez Walker Murton Barrett this could follow diffusion's mold. And win a division.
