    I've come to expect this from the Cubs. I honestly cannot see them having success this year. Even if they somehow, by some miracle, win the division, I look for a short exit in the playoffs.

    Man, you're an eternal optimist -- that's gonna get you in trouble. I like what Lou is doing on the most part and it's been quite refreshing compared to foolishness of Baker. We'll see if it works. I really have my doubts. Have nothing against Lou...I simply have no faith that the Cubs can put together a good streak and win the Central.

    You have every right to boo. But booing a highly emotional player who's just signed a five year contract is beyond stupid. Go ahead and boo if it makes you feel better about yourself. But telling yourself it's doing anything to help the situation is a mistake, IMO. I really, really have to differ with you on this one. The main benefit is that this incident will help toughen up Z. He is very emotionally fragile. He needed this in his progress to maturity. If he is ever to become a GREAT pitcher, he will have to learn to control his emotions. This boo'ing incident will help him harden and become more stable -- hopefully. Maybe coddling and cheering is exactly what Z DOESN'T NEED. Maybe he needs to understand that fans WILL BOO -- regardless of whether you think it is right or wrong -- they WILL Boo...and that he will have to learn to ignore it. All of us need to learn to take the bad things in our lives and use them to mature.

    Yours is a much sillier statement. So it is not bullying to point out someone's faults and then making a spectacle of them? Showing that you dislike someone's actions is easy enough in more constructive ways. Don't go to the game, ignore the action altogether, write concerned letters. What purpose does booing have? Alright then, what purpose does cheering have? Write letters of appreciation instead. =D> =D> =D>

    I just want to quote this for it's pure awesomeness. Way to go Badger. Though I highly doubt Zambrano initiated the apology, it was a good one....and in my opinion, undid what he said yesterday. I still have no problem with fans boo'ing. Call it bush-league, classless, or whatever, fans have a right to do it. It's the way they can communicate to the player. Same goes for cheering. It's the fans way of expressing how they feel -- good or bad. And the comment about supporting him for two months and then booing THE MINUTE he screwed up is not quite accurate. One only needs to look at his last five starts and the first two months of the season to refute that. Cubs fans are forgiving and I'm sure Carlos did the right thing today. He will be given a big warm hug by the crowd. And btw, Badger, I'm glad that you never express your displeasure in a verbal way to anyone or anything in your life. I'd be very interested to read all of your posts and see how many times you called players "idiots" or a similar term. If you have been a gentleman with your thousands of posts, then I will say you are an honorable man. Otherwise, you are a hypocrite.

    It's not as if this was his first bad start in a month or two, this is his fifth bad start in a row Not to mention that he's been bad more than he's been good this year. SO WHAT? He's been good for 4 freaking years. 5 bad starts and you turn on a guy. Yep that exhibits class. Booing is not classless. It's the way fans communicate. They also communicate by cheering. It goes both ways. I wouldn't be a very good father if I always stroked my daughter. She needs discipline at times. Z needs to take criticism. Usually a hot-headed and arrogant person is the first one who lashes out against those who criticize. His apology is probably coming from a mandate from Lou. I don't see "Z" as a humble man.

    I knew that was coming... I knew it should come, I wasn't positive it would....I'm very glad it is.... IF he's sufficiently contrite I expect a standing ovation next time he walks on the field. Depends what he does on his next two road starts. I don't think so. Cubs fans are among the best in baseball. They boo, yes. But they also forgive. Carlos will say something like, "The fans have every right to boo because I've been pitching so badly. I must pitch better for the team and the fans." That, in and of itself, guarentees a warm applause next time he pitches.
