It's weird - they just lost to the current #3 team and recently beat the #4 team. Where can you rank them that doesn't have some quirk? Can't be in the top 3 and you're not going to drop OU a spot to #5, so you had to know Texas would be below OU in the standings this week. 3 spots might be too many, but I don't see how you can rank them higher than 6th right now. ETA - if you're the AP, I guess you just drop OU 2 spots. Wow. i don't know what i'd do with the rest of the teams up in that area - alabama, penn st, florida, usc, etc. - but i do know that i would have the big xii teams ranked texas tech, texas, oklahoma. that's the only thing that makes sense right now. tech beat texas and texas beat oklahoma, all within the last month. if tech loses to okie st or oklahoma, then it's a free for all, but right now i don't understand how you can put OU above texas. Agreed. I don't care that Oklahoma blew out Nebraska this week. That doesn't guarantee that they can't drop a spot in the polls. The AP poll looks fine to me with Texas ahead of Oklahoma and the top-3 all being undefeated teams. I'm thinking there's no way you could rank OU 3-8 without angering someone's fanbase. I don't think OU is deserving of a #1 vote, but blowing out an also-ran shouldn't cause a team to drop in the polls. However, Texas did beat OU, and for now, deserves to be ahead of OU on that merit. I'm guessing OU was the toughest team to rank this week. Texas fans have pretty good reason to cry this week though. They're definitely better than USC. based on what? Scores, Texas's loss is "better" than USC's loss, USC plays the lesser Pac-10 teams close, Texas has more quality wins.
