  1. Well this pretty much ruins my day, the Warlond deserved a spot.
  2. Considering that Brady Clark usually hits fairly well against the Cubs, I approve of this trade.
  3. Remember when Travis Lee was once a surefire-lock future superstar? He went from being the second overall pick in 1996 draft, to hitting .363/.473/.690 with more more walks than strike outs in high A and .300/.387/.573 after being promoted to AAA in his first year year of pro ball. He followed that up by hitting 22 home runs with a .346 OBP in his rookie year, finishing 3rd in the ROY voting as a 23 year old. He was about as close to a sure thing that you could get. And then he turned into Sid Bream. Weird.
  4. The Bears have been pretty busy... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2812251 signed 49er DT Anthony Adams to 4 year deal signed Steeler S Tyrone Carter to 3 year deal, 2.4 million resigned Ruben Brown to a 1 year deal, 2.2 million That pretty much means the end of Ian Scott, who seems to be drawing a lot of interest from other teams. I don't know much about Adams, but he seems to be a good fit. I was becoming fairly convinced that the Bears were going to pick a DT with one of their top 2 picks, but this would seem to preclude that.
  5. Tough luck for Wood. He had two ground ball DP balls that were spoiled by the hit and run and then Morales hits a pitch in and at shoulder level for a home run. Not trying to make excuses, but...well, yes I am.
  6. So, is Wood going to pitch another inning?
  7. Hell just froze over. He's was drawing walks just fine until Dusty got ahold of him. The difference between his AVG and OBP has never been Neifi-like, but that's not saying much. Haven't you heard, Neifi is a new man this year... Neifi's spring BA: .344 Neifi's spring OBP: .476
  8. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2007/0322071larussa1.html I know this is probably wrong of me, but BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
  9. They're really annoying. Bring on Andy Masur already.
  10. What a difference an inning makes. Now he needs to build on it.
  11. Speaking of Curtis Granderson, Neifi has 9 walks in spring training.
  12. Send him to Mike Marshall. They have nothing to lose at this point.
  13. I would not be shocked to learn that he mixed alcohol with medication, legal or otherwise. It seems very odd that he would pass out in his car at 12 AM with just a .093 blood alcohol level.
  14. He was asleep at an intersection with his foot on the brake. Despite the relatively low BAC content, things could have turned out a lot worse.
  15. So sayeth Paul Sullivan... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070321cubsbits,1,2840188.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Lou appears to be sold: "I've been very comfortable with seeing the progress Cedeno has made in camp," manager Lou Piniella said. "We've asked him to do a few things both defensively and offensively, and he has responded. "I told [general manager Jim Hendry] this morning, I don't think we need to go out and do anything, unless he really thinks we're going to improve our team. I'm comfortable with all the pieces we have here. We can make it work with what we have here."
  16. Hmmm... http://espn.go.com/i/page2/photos/060613/mr_met_195.jpghttp://www.simplypieceful.org/images/barry.bonds.ap.jpg :-k
  17. "We're coming to you live from the Kosuke Fukudome where the Nippon Ham Fighters will take on the Hiroshima Carp!"
  18. I sure hope that Brown isn't going anywhere. Even with the addition of Archuleta, he shouldn't see any loss of playing time provided he can stay healthy. In an ideal scenario, Archuleta and Manning would be rotated in and out depending on the situation with Brown moving from free safety to strong safety as necessary. Hopefully, Lovie, Angelo and company are thinking along those lines. Otherwise, this deal doesn't look so hot.
  19. Nice pick up for the Bears. Archuleta was misused in Washington and should be more comfortable back in Lovie's defense. He's exactly the run stuffing safety they need, especially since the run defense turned soft after Mike Brown went down. I view Mike Brown in the same way I do Mark Prior and Kerry Wood, he simply cannot be counted on. As far as Archuleta's struggles with the Redskins last year, I wouldn't put too much stock in it. That team is a mess and Snyder runs it like his own personal fantasy squad. I'm reminded of when the Redskins threw a lot of money at Jeremiah Trotter. He, too, struggled and was considered a bust and washed up. That was until he rejoined the Eagles, immediately helped turn their defense around, helped get them to the super bowl and made two pro bowls. I'll trust Lovie on this one.
  20. Yowza! Getting only 2 hits in a Cactus League game is an achievement.
  21. ...and the Cubs lose. McGehee grounds out to second. I blame the green hats.
  22. Hoff strikes out swinging. Last chance with McGehee at the plate.
