  1. We have one known and one unknown here today. The known: this is going to be a low scoring game. The unknown: the creative way in which the Cubs will blow it.
  2. Look on the bright side. Only 143 games left in the The Cubs Being Sold/Jim Hendry Being Fired countdown tour.
  3. Poem dedicated to the 2007 Chicago Cubs: Roses are red Violets are blue The Cubs suck and I don't want to make this rhyme because the Cubs suck so bad.
  4. You know I can't even muster up the energy to get angry anymore. I never thought apathy would set in this early.
  5. Time for Pie to steal third base and home. That's the only way they are going to score.
  6. what is that little play on words you guys are doing called? palindromes ...and Dave Otto is doing the game on the radio. Eerie.
  7. I'm thinking Lou may have pinch hit Jason Marquis there. I wonder if Marquis can play the infield?
  8. Also, as far as Zimmer, I wouldn't call him a great manager, or even a good one. I view it like poker, you can make poor decisions, but still win with a lucky run of cards. That was Zimmer in 1989. It was fun while it lasted, but his act got pretty old pretty quickly.
  9. I would say the greatest Cub manager of all-time was Joe McCarthy. Naturally, the Cubs fired him and he would only go on to win something like 7 world series titles. Although Charlie Grimm, who would follow him a couple of years later, was fine manager in his own right and led them to their last NL pennant (4 total). I know some of a certain age might be partial to Leo Durocher. In recent years, it has been such a revolving door, it is hard to get a gauge on any of them. There comes a point where it is not so much the manager as it is the organization. I'm kind of partial to the college of coaches though, because eight minds are better than one.
  10. Hopefully, Zambrano's mouth hasn't written a check his arm can't cash. Nevertheless, I like the Cubs chances tonight.
  11. And yet we'll all be back tomorrow. We'll always be back. Cub fans are probably the most masochistic people alive. I liken it to Battered Wife Syndrome.
  12. Goats of the game: Wade Miller (for being Wade Miller) Bob Howry (for giving up a 2 run triple to Rolen...and being Bob Howry) Ryan Dempster (for turning into the Dumpster) Ronny Cedeno (0-5, 3 Ks, 6 LOB -- looked every bit as weak as his stat line) Cliff Floyd (1-5, 2 K's, 4 LOB -- #2 hitter my )
  13. I hear Neifi could be had for a bucket of balls. ::whistles::
