  1. I think I like his idea of bringing in Bill Murray better than Stone . . .
  2. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/rosenblog/2009/08/your-new-cubs-president.html From Rosenbloom . . . I don't even know where to begin . . .
  3. Didn't they use to have ST in that region of FLA? I'm thinking Marco Island or something . . .
  4. And the Trib . . . http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-05-cubs-bits-chicago-aug05,0,1814591.story
  5. Yeah something tells me Chuck Wasserstom isn't the one with the biggest input into Cubs decision making. Okay? Just to review: Most anyone looking at Gorzelanny statistically would agree he's a pretty good buy low option. Someone with the knowledge of UK suggesting Gorzelanny's stuff is as good as it was in '07(his best MLB year), as well as saying that Gorzelanny and Rothschild are a good fit. Littlefield, who has a worthy reputation as a talent evaluator, drafted Gorzelanny, and recommended him after seeing him pitch recently. All of those mesh together. If you're afraid because of Littlefield's evaluation then you have to question all of those evaluations, and that's irrational. I don't have to question anything, I do question Littlefield's judgement. If you think that is irrational, you don't understand the meaning of the word irrational. OH YEAH? Well, if YOU think the whole thing IS rational, then you don't know the meaning of, um . . . "is" . . . or "thing" . . . or "whole" . . . !
  6. dumb question: is there a roster move that has to be made before the game to make room for Demp? If so, who's going down??
  7. Jose Oquendo says hello http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7C0gSvTcf58/Rg0iqf-GgBI/AAAAAAAAAL8/zydNCcnn46o/s320/jose_oquendo Neither one of them can compete with the all-time leader -- Don Mossi http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/jjgreen33/DonMossi.jpg JEBUS CHRIS! That mug's gonna give me nightmares!
  8. OH MAN! That made me snort hot coffee out of my nose! :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) =D> =D> =D>
  9. Nobody's going to claim him. Teams will wait til he's a free agent so they don't have to pay his contract. Hes already cleared waivers and a free agent as of today, so it doesnt go through each team worst-best record. At this point, its just like any other free agent and he can negotiate with whoever he wants, or whoever wants him anyway. Thanks for the clarification. I guess I don't get what happens now, since his salary is paid, and we would only have to pay league minimum - so what is it that he is negotiating?
  10. What are the chances that he actually is available to the Cubs??? I assume many other teams would be interested, including several that are ahead of us in line, right?
  11. Agreed . . . he didn't look great, but Fuld seems to have a hot hand. I'd rather not see Hendry dig up a useless backup-to-the-backup catcher . . . Stick with Fox/Fuld . . .
  12. Could it be from that awesome "Kick-Save" he made the other night?
  13. I'm pretty shocked at the reasonableness of these actions . . . at least it puts off some of the drama until Miles comes back (hopefully they just DFA him and we keep on rolling!)
  14. I really hope not. I think Fox is worth more then a "AL reliever." Let him play out the season to raise his value and then move him to the AL in the offseason. Trading Fox for a "reliever" doesn't improve the tean. Why would we trade him at the peak of his value? My guess will be that Hendry will let every team know we want to trade Fox, play him sporadically for the rest of the year so his numbers dip, constantly send him back to AAA and recall him a week later until he is out of options, and then trade him for a AA relief pitcher next spring. BINGO!
  15. Any speculation on WHEN this roster move will be made? I mean, I am happy to keep checking NSBB every 27 seconds . . . ;)
  16. Does this impact us right now in any way? Can we now make some moves that we couldn't before - or are we just a bit further along towards that goal??
  17. Edwin Jackson (6-4) ERA=2.39, WHIP=1.06 YIKES!
  18. HOLY CR@P! Don Mossi's sorry mug will haunt my nightmares!
  19. As captivating as this team is....that is tough to imagine, right? Kinda sad, really . . . LIKE THIS BALLCLUB!!! :rotfl:  ](*,)
  20. really, it's been 16 hours since anyone posted ANYTHING????
  21. Another CLASSIC thread starter!! =D> =D> =D>
  22. Is it sad that I remember vividly, each of the guys playing for the Cubs that he's used the last two days? I'm going to cry if he starts breaking out some of the late 70's - early 80's guys. Not sad at all! These are the players from my youth . . . I loved these crap players!
  23. Another AWESOME thread start!! =D> =D> =D>
