  1. Theriot on base again, huh? It almost seems like DLee goes the other way a little too much.
  2. Has anyone even noticed that Lou is skipping Marquis's spots in the rotation his next time out? Or have we been too busy calling him names to do that?
  3. Then at the same time you shouldn't look at his SLG in a vacuum considering he's stolen 7 bases. Exactly. You might want to look at EQA, which takes that into account. Theriot's EQA is .269, only marginally better than the .247 he put up a year ago. The CS's are killing him offensively. Cedeno, for a point of comparison, is sporting a .350 EQA. Which is Bonds-like. Gotta look at the sample size there. Ronny's had a nice 50 at bats. But I'm not about to call for Theriot's head when he's getting on base 2 times every 5 plate appearances. Pot meet Kettle How does that make any sense at all? It doesn't. My point (since you seem to be missing it) is that it's incredibly foolish to take a guy who's hitting .320 and getting on base 40% of the time he digs in, and say "hey, I know you're playing great but I think this guy could be better because he's younger and hit better in the minors three years ago." That's just stupid, and no manager in baseball will bench a guy who's hitting very well because there's a "prospect" on his bench that could do better. If Theriot starts to struggle, I'll want to see Cedeno get more playing time. I'm not some big Theriot fan or some big Cedeno hater. I'm just a realist who isn't going to bitch and moan because our backup SS isn't getting enough playing time when the starter is doing a just fine job. It gets tiring seeing the hate towards Theriot on this board.

  6. Would like to add a LH hitting outfielder to bat 5th? Did I miss something? Did Fukudome decide to move back to Japan or something?
  7. This is so stupid, and why a lot of Cubs fans piss me off. Theriot is hitting .320 and his OBP is .400. Stop freaking complaining. If and when his numbers become below average, then bitch all you want about his playing time. But until then stop bitching about a guy who has been very productive.
  8. hopefully, they'll find way to die. What are you, 13?
  9. Nice to see the home ump eff us at the end. I know the ball beat Fontenot there, but there's no excuse to botch that call when you're standing right in front of it. Just horrible.
  10. So the blame should go to Larry Rothschild for Rich Hill's suckiness?
  11. It's day to day. Last I heard yesterday he was too sore to take BP. Cool, thanks.
  12. What's the deal with Aramis, have they said when he's expected to return?
  13. Sammy Sosa was a [expletive] for talking to Jeff Pentland. ...okay... My point is, people keep looking for someone to blame/credit for Hill's failures/successes. The guy's 28 years old, he should be capable of working through difficult patches without people talking about how this pitching coach or that pitching coach isn't doing a good enough job.
  14. Theriot with a solid basehit up the middle.
  15. Dempster is looking a lot better this inning.
  16. Maybe Rich should fix himself.
  17. Yes. And I think their belief in that knowledge causes them to win fewer games than if they just knew what we know. Awesome.
  18. So Ramirez is definitely out today? Damn, Soto better play then. I'm heading downtown to start drinking in about three hours. I'm so glad I'll be there, rather than listening to the horrid Fox announcers. My record at games this year is 0-2... time to end the losing streak!
  19. I don't see any benefit of putting him in the pen. If he can't throw strikes, he can't throw strikes. Send him down to Iowa and hope that he remembers how to pitch.
  20. Wait... so you're saying it's the Cubs fault that he walked 4 of the 6 guys he faced tonight?
  21. Who should he start over? The guy who's been on base 7 times the last 3 games, or the guy who's been on base 8 times the last 3 games?
  22. Nice, I was going to be disappointed if Soto didn't play. The only other game I've been to this year, Blanco started.
  23. probably because he generally has good fundamentals and people aren't going to overreact about a few baserunning mistakes made in one week. Does he, really? Or is that just perception? What does that even mean? yes, he does. he's a good baserunner, steals bases at a good rate, shows good patience at the plate and doesn't make many errors. there's plenty to criticize with theriot, like his ability to hit and his range in the field. FYI Theriot was last among Cub starters in pitches/plate appearance last year as he is this year. Which doesn't really mean anything. It does if you are trying to argue that he shows good patience at the plate. Not really. Showing patience means waiting for a good pitch to hit. With Theriot hitting in front of Lee, that pitch typically comes early in the at bat. Just because a guy doesn't see a lot of pitches in at bat doesn't make him impatient.
