  1. On another note, George Steinbrenner looked to be in pretty bad condition last night. What's going on with him?
  2. Pretty straightforward poll...
  3. Agree on the strict pitch count. Most of those people shouldn't be on the roster to begin with though. If they have zero intentions on playing (I'm looking at you Brandon Webb), then step aside and let someone take your place who will play.
  4. Thanks for giving the AL home field advantage, Uggla.
  5. Seriously. It's way too... I don't even know what the word is I'm looking for. It sounds like something they play at the Oscars.
  6. Girardi in the bullpen... that's awesome.
  7. I don't know who this dude is, but what a great rendition.
  8. I wanna say 1990. And shut up about Hamilton already Fox, jeez.
  9. Weird. You would think that there would be an official website. Either way, this is awesome.
  10. Zambrano gets the W if this lead holds up, right?
  11. Danny Haren looks like a guy who should be playing World of Warcraft, not pitching in the MLB All Star game.
  12. I'm actually kind of looking forward to this year's game.
  13. Some of you guys need to learn how to read. The original post isn't a "gosh Jimbo is so fat and dumb for trading him away." It seems like more of a (like the thread title states) imagine how good we'd be with him in our lineup.

    Golf

So I played my first round of golf today. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Drank a lot of beer. Shotgunned a couple of beers. Made a few good putt shots. My long game needs a lot of work, I suck at hitting a driver. I like it, it's a lot of fun.
  15. Not the biggest fan of this, just cause I think he needs to clear his head and get back on track. But at the same time, hopefully just being there will give him the confidence boost that he needs. It's pretty unlikely that he pitches anyways, and if he does get in, it won't be for long.
  16. That was an absolutely butcher play by DeRosa. It really was. I just don't get why he was charging so hard on that ball. Stand still if you have to, let the ball roll to you and then toss it in to 2nd. The runner would still be on 1st base.
  17. If Kosuke had been starting today, we'd still be scoreless.
  18. I feel bad for him, because he really deserves to be there. And selfishly, I was hoping he'd finish the game. But all things considered, the extended time off really is a good thing for him. I look forward to him dominating the 2nd half like he did the 1st half of the season.
  19. I don't think he's hurt, but clearly there's something wrong. He's been an entirely different pitcher the last few weeks or so. I don't know if it's overuse, injury, or what, but to deny that something is wrong/different is basically claiming visual impairment.
  20. I know I'll get backlash from the "batting order means nothing" crowd, but... Kosuke batting 2nd: .125/.222/.225/.447 (granted, only 45 PA's) Kosuke batting 5th: .316/.427/.466/.893 (233 PA's) Thoughts on hitting Edmonds second, while moving the F bomb back to 5th or even 6th behind Soto?
  21. I think Demp will give the Cubs a hometown discount. The questions are, how badly does he want to stay here and how badly will Hendry want to keep him here? I think Demp really likes it here, but he's not going to take some extreme lowball offer. As others have mentioned, 3/30 or 4/40 would entice him to stay, I would think. As for Wood, his wife mentioned on air the other day that they've found a home here. I think that Wood is a lifetime Cub, so long as Hendry gives him something that is near fair. He doesn't seem like the type of guy to gauge the Cubs for a huge chunk of change. I don't know what it would take, but I think everyone involved would want Wood to wear Cubbie blue next year. Considering he's been a Cub for all of his adult life, I can't see Woody walking. If he continues to dominate like he has all year, I'd be all for giving him 10M a year to keep him around as the Cubs' closer. I want Wood to stick around no matter what. He's been one of my favorite Cubs for quite awhile now.
