Yeah, it has been a tough year, but, I wouldn't exactly say that we're in the midst of a fire sale. CC had to go. We knew we weren't going to retain him after the season and we certainly aren't going to compete for anything this year. After years of John Hart and Mark Shapiro letting super-star players like Albert Belle, Manny Ramirez, and Jim Thome walk with nothing to show for it, it's nice to see some simple, smart trades. The Indians can still re-sign Blake after the year, and both parties (Shapiro and Blake) have hinted at the fact that it might happen. So, the only 2 (major) trades that were made were just smart moves, shipping off unnecessary players for good, young prospects. Given, with the uncertainty of Hafner and Martinez and the pending loss of Byrd, we have become a team that is focusing much more on our younger ball players. But, that doesn't mean we can't compete in the Central next year. Especially with Cliff Lee and Fausto anchoring our rotation. Realistically, we're probably 2-3 years away from any real run. Ah, the life of an Indians' fan. Since you're our resident Indians fan... What happened to Victor Martinez this year? I was just looking at his BR page and he's been brutal.
