I don't know if this has been mentioned, but Edmonds as a Cubs has a higher SLG than every other qualifying player in baseball.

How awesome would it be if Edmonds got drilled, and immediately afterwards he ran into the Cardinals dugout and started beating the **** out of LaRussa.

Some guys just want to play for certain teams. I doubt you had any such disdain for Dawson when he resigned with us after the 87 season, did you?Well, I was five but I do remember talking to my buddies in kindergarten saying how stupid of a decision that was. I see what you're saying, but it just strikes me as odd that a player who's always been on bad teams and who's near the end of his career wouldn't accept a trade to a team with a great chance to win it all.

This is surprising. He'd rather start on a crappy team than be on the bench of a team that has a shot to win the World Series? Winning certainly isn't one of his priorities.

At this point, I'm saying yes to a one year incentive laced deal. The Edmonds/Johnson platoon is working too well to abandon it and hope (yet again) that Felix Pie can hit at this level. What if he doesn't hit (again) next year? Then you're in the same situation as this year, and probably aren't going to get as lucky with dumpster diving as they did with Edmonds. Pie isn't doing anything in AAA. He had a chance up here and didn't perform. So he got sent down, and isn't performing down there either. He shouldn't be rewarded with a promotion as a result. If Edmonds is cheap enough, sign him.

With Zambrano only throwing 80 pitches his last time out, Lou will probably ride him deep if the game is close. I'd love to see Zambrano toss a shutout while throwing 120 pitches or less. Actually, let's just go for a perfect game instead!

I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I just read on ESPN that Wood wasn't available today due to a sore back. Is he good to go tomorrow? Any word on this?

no, i'm pretty sure he still wears eyeliner. don't know if he's gay, though. No, he recently got married. He stopped being gay when the Cubs signed him.

Fixed. Ramirez has power. Derrek Lee is so overrated. He has turned himself into Mark Grace. Which is fine, if you aren't paying him as much as we are and batting him in the three hole. Grace spent the majority of his career in the three hole.

590 or 1380? Aside from their idiotic statements to appease the masses here ("You know they're gonna choke! 1908!") it's pretty hard not to be complimentary to a team that is clearly the class of the National League thus far. 590 I think. I was flipping back and forth trying to find baseball talk. It was whichever was wasn't talking about if they'd rather live without TV or the internet. Usually when the Cubs are playing the Cards, the radio people (mind you, this is usually on 105.7) are talking about how Chicago women are whores and how they smell bad. No joke. So I was surprised to hear kind words.

The radio guys here in St. Louis had some pretty complimentary things to say about the Cubs this morning. They also couldn't believe the fact that Zambrano has a higher average than Pujols.

As much as I'd love to see a Cubs-Cards NLCS, I think I'd love it even more to sweep them this weekend to put them 9 games back and, effectively, give them no chance of winning the division. God I wish I were going this weekend.
