  1. Then you aren't looking at this the least bit rationally. Hendry gets crap because he makes crap moves. How else do you barely break .500 over 5 seasons with a top tier payroll? Steve Trachsel is a terrible pitcher. He was decent from time to time earlier in his career, but he sucked last year and he's sucked this year. He was destroyed late in the Mets postseason run last year, because he sucks. He's walking a ton of guys and not striking out anybody, and he's giving up a considerable amount of hits. He's been lucky in August that his ERA is as low as it has been. Steve Trachsel is not a terrible pitcher. I wish, for once, that you'd drop the hyperbole. Opponents have a near .800 OPS against him the past 3 years. I'd say that's pretty terrible. Okay... if you look league wide, an 800 OPS against would rank Trachsel 75th in baseball, which would make him a number three starter. So unless every single 4th and 5th starter in baseball is "terrible", then no, Steve Trachsel is not a terrible pitcher. For pitchers with at least 100 IP.... Trachsel is dead last in K/BB, behind such legends as Joe Kennedy and Mike Maroth as the only players with a K/BB below 1. Trachsel is bad. No, Trachsel is average. His OPS against, WHIP, and ERA all place him as a 3rd or 4th starter.
  2. How do you figure? It was 4.02 coming into today and he gave up 4 ERs in 3.6 IP ONly 1ER rest are unearned. Huh? How are they unearned? error on Aram Wasn't that the first batter of the inning? Those runs should be earned, two of them should at least. It's not Aram's fault that Marshall gave up a bomb to Hunter Pence.

  4. That's another reason why I like the Trachsel acquisition.
  5. Murton didn't even try to catch that ball. Come on man, freaking do your job.
  6. Care to elaborate? He's been trading for crap hoping it turns into gold lately. EJ said it dead on with what I meant this kind of garbage gets nobody anywhere. I don't particularly like the trade, but we need honest debate here. Trachsel is not crap. by definition he is average. na..I'd say he is crap And you'd be wrong. When opposing teams are OPS'ing 800 against you, Im not sure there is another word for it. Average is a great word for it.

  10. Hey who you got in the IL Mizzou game? Am I stupid for thinking U of I has a chance? Yes. Please, you guys aren't anything special. And you guys are a bad football team. I would stop short of saying bad. Illinois is loaded with talent and that will be enough to keep us in most games. "Loaded with talent" and "keep us in games" don't go together. Sure it does, considering the majority of that talent are freshman and sophomores. It's all semantics, but teams that are loaded with talent don't stay in games. They dominate games. Explain the 2004 Cubs baseball team to me. http://www.zonersports.com/wp-content/1089/1600/dusty_baker5.jpg
  11. God I hope we're not going with a 6 man rotation down the stretch.

  14. Damn, 31 pitches after one inning. We need starters to go deep from this point on, Marshall needs to freaking step it up. Why is Soriano not starting today?
  15. Nice addition. We gave up too much, but neither Moore nor Cherry will ever be good in the majors so it's not that big of a deal. Trachsel will help this team, I like the acquisition.
  16. I really like DeRosa hitting second. Not a big fan of Hank White batting 7th though. Hopefully it works out!
  17. Umm, okay. To answer the question, no, he won't get any votes. But we wouldn't be in first place without him. there are like 12 guys on the team without whom the cubs wouldn't be in first place. Marmol, Zambrano, Hill, Lilly, DLee, Ramirez, DeRosa, Theriot, Soriano... who else would you add to that list?
  18. I almost feel bad for making that bet. I honestly think we're going to win by at least 20 points, probably more. I'm pretty sure that the game is going to be on ESPN2, by the way.
  19. Me too...sort of...Kids day care is closed today...I told the wife that if I "Had to" I'd stay home today... Mizzou...you gonna go watch Illinois whoop up on the tiggers tomorrow? Hah, yeah right. Like they stand a chance. I don't plan on going, but I might change my mind and head down to tailgate. Though after last night, I highly doubt it. You going? Just curious, but which team are you saying doesnt stand a chance? Illinois. I'm predicting a blowout. Mizzou is going to be solid this year. Want to put a wager on the game Mizzou? Premium up for grabs? Sure, I'm confident enough to bet on my team. What's the bet? Well the line is Mizzou by 4.5, and since you said you were expecting a blowout, how about this bet. Ill bet you U of I is within 10 points in the end. 6 months premium on the line? I'll bet 6 months worth of premium that we cover the spread. Well Ive found 2 different spreads Ive seen 4.5 and Ive seen 5.5. I just figured since you said you were expecting the blowout, you would feel safe giving me 10 points. Screw it, I'll take it. I'll wager 6 months of Premium that we beat you by at least 10 points. We're on.
