  1. Man that series against the Reds at the end of the year scares the crap out of me.
  2. I can't believe you really need an explanation, it's fairly simple. Matt Murton was productive last year, and Floyd was not. Given their ages, it could be expected to see improvement in Murton, and not Floyd. Seriously, you didn't need that explained. What I needed explained is why you think Murton's .782 OPS v. RHP "was productive" but Floyd's .765 OPS v. RHP "was not productive." Unless, in your view, the line at which a player becomes "productive" falls between a .765 and .782 OPS. What a stupid post. Goony, have you ever been in a good mood? Ever?
  3. Marquis seems to be pitching well thus far... we need the offense to step up and score some freakin runs!
  4. What a friggin waste of an asset that would be. Err, what SSR said. Asset? What exactly does Cedeno bring to the table? 24 year old who has torn up AAA. Could be valuable in a trade if we find a gullible GM...so basically if we try to make a trade with ourselves. But has been nothing short of pathetic at the big league level. His career OPS+ is lower than Neifi's. That should tell you all you need to know about the guy. He's played one full year in the majors. If he had been starting from day one this year, I think he'd be putting up respectable numbers What makes you think that? His line in his rookie year? .300/.356/.375/.731. He's had 51 AB this year spread out all over the place, I'm sure he'll do better with more consistant playing time (especially when considering the improvements he's made in plate discipline at AAA this season). Seriously? You're looking at his "rookie year?" All 80 at bats of it? Why that rather than the year in which he actually played a full season? You know, the year where he put up the .245/.271/.339/.610 line in 534 at bats. And FYI, in '05 his 80 at bats were spread out over 5 months. This year his 50 at bats have been spread out over about 4.5 months. You're using his spread out at bats in '05 to show what he's capable of, yet his spread out at bats this year have hurt him. Huh?

  8. Might as well release Cedeno -- he clearly has no future as a major league baseball player. I like that Blanco is back. He works well with Z, and although he isn't that good of a hitter he seems to have a knack for coming up with big hits.
  9. 1. they moved Zambrano up to Thursday with Marshall pitching Friday 2. There is Monday plus one day in September where both teams have a scheduled off day Didn't realize a decision had been made on Zambrano. That's good though. September 10th isn't really ideal for anyone, and I don't see the Cardinals agreeing to it at all. Doing so wouldn't give them an off day for the entire month of September. I see it as either August 10th or October 1st (if necessary).
  10. For whatever reason, I've never joined a fantasy football league. Well, that changes next week. I'm entering an office pool where an entry costs $50. The only problem is, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Can anyone give me some general advice, or point me in the direction or a good site that offers some?
  11. Two questions. 1. Will Zambrano pitch Wednesday, or even tomorrow night? Starting him on Wednesday (which I believe is the smartest thing to do) will allow him to start the first game of the Milwaukee series. 2. What to do about yesterday's game. Do you think they'll just hold off and play it at the end of the year, if need be? It basically has to be next Monday or after the regular season is over. I'm not sure which I think is best for the Cubs. On one hand, I'd like to avoid playing the game unless it's necessary. But on the flip side, I don't want to play a game against the Cardinals with the season on the line. I don't know. What are your thoughts?
  12. So what's likely to happen at this point? Delayed start time? Game starts on time and is then delayed during it? Or complete postponement?
  13. I agree with every word of this.
  14. So is this thing going to start on time?
  15. Jesus, you had like 860 some odd posts earlier this afternoon... you've made 100+ posts in a matter of hours?
  16. Ditto. I'm going to be kinda bummed if they can't get it in.
  17. Big Z on the national stage after getting his new contract against Kip Wells... yeah, we should dominate this game.
  18. Yeah, but then in that case LaRussa and the Cardinals are thinking... why didn't the ump wait one more pitch to put on the tarps? Duncan could've tied it up on that next pitch.
  19. Think about it from the Cards' perspective. With that rationale, you'd think that the game would be suspended.
  20. Nope. Under the new rules, it's now suspended. I thought the new rules only prevent the "revert to last completed inning" If the road team takes the lead or ties. Yeah, I thought the same thing. Although it makes sense that the game would be suspended in this situation as well. If I'm the Cardinals, and this game is delayed and then eventually called, I'd be pissed.
  21. Nope. Under the new rules, it's now suspended. You sure about that?
