  1. Imagine if Raffy said this: "Yes, I did steroids. I was wrong and I'll accept any punishment I recieve." Then watch for flying pigs.
  2. June: .269 .317 .462 .780 July: .299 .379 .529 .907 Hmm...I wonder when he took the stuff and if that is the reason for the better numbers. This is like a Greek tragedy.
  3. That could be some serious jail time. Perjury in court is a 20-year sentence, IIRC, but I don't know what it is if you lie to Congress. Will Congress even go after him? I'm no legal expert, but that depends on whether Congress wants to make an example of him like MLB will, I would guess. Unless they get him to squeal on other players to reduce his time.
  4. Steriod detection times vary, but I heard the longest time is 18 months. Thanks GORDO. So 18 months will be the time Bonds knee gets better.
  5. What are Raffy's stats in the last month. I'm just wondering if he was struggling and went the quick route to "success". Again, does anyone know how long this stuff stays in your system?
  6. I got to ask Fisk, Bench and Carter a question when Fisk and Carter were inducted, it was pretty cool. I wonder what question Vance will ask....maybe: What city had the hottest chicks?
  7. How long does it take before that stuff completly leaves your system?
  8. I agree but Ozzie Smith is in so the door is now wide open.
  9. I was hoping Hendry would pick up a 3rd/1st baseman that hits left handed but I suppose there are very few of those. Holla and Walker are the only ones that even play first, yes? I agree with Walker at 1st and Harry at second but it would depend on who was pitching because if it's a tough righty Baker would probably put Perez at 2nd if Nomar is back instead.
  10. I would assume that Murton's OBP won't stay that high...sure. But, I've wanted to see a young Cub come up from the minors and step up as Murton did and now that he has the Cubs replace him. I just hope that he still keeps getting AB's but if Lawton is batting leadoff I doubt Baker will sit him out against all lefties..it's not the way Dusty has managed. Honestly, what's the rush? The Cubs will likely need two outfielders next season, and Murton should be given every chance in spring training. Even if he's sent down this season, he'll be back in September. I don't have a problem seeing Murton replaced with Lawton, I do have a big problem with Murton being sent down for a guy like Hollandsworth. I like the deal. It cracks me up how some people are disappointed that a "blockbuster" wasn't made, but would've been upset had Hill, Pie, Dope, or Murton been involved. That's the only way a blockbuster was going to be made. I'm glad Hendry has hung onto a lot of the prospects. I didn't need a blockbuster myself and I agree if Murton gets sent down and Holla is still up that the Cubs will be making a mistake.

  12. While it's not the blockbuster trade everyone was hoping for, it does add to the depth and versatility of the team. As of right now, you have 3 options for LF, 3 for CF, 3 for RF, 3 for 2B, 2 for leadoff, etc. Unfortunately, instead of Hairston replacing Macias as supersub, I'm sure Cedeno will go down to AAA. Hopefully, the Cubs will cut Remlinger when Williamson and Wood return. Who knows, maybe they can get a little something (very little) for him when he goes on waivers. Actually I am satisfied with this trade I just think it's funny that the guy withthe teams highest OBP is going to be the one replaced. cuse again, they're not replacing Lee...They're replacing Holly who has an OBP of around .300 Where you gettin that bro? Yeah, as CPatt mentioned I was talking about Murton. I just consider Holla to be a part time player but I see what you're saying about it being Holla's replacement.
  13. I'm hardly one to defend Dusty, Cuse, but the fact is that Murton has gotten starts vs RH pitchers lately. I know Geech I'm just a little edgey when it comes to Baker and his fear of rookie success. I apoligize if it came out crass. I've just got to take a step back and see how this develops. I'd just hate to see another Dubois situation.

  15. Gerut, but that isn't really the point. IMO if Holla was hitting 400 and had a 500 OBP do you think that Murton would see any action at all? I don't.
  16. Holla is going to be playing the role he should have always been playing....pinch hitter and very limited starts...occasional starts at 1st too, one a month.
  17. But it seems like Murton has been winning more playing time lately. Who started in LF today?
  18. Lawton hasn't played CF in 5 years, and he's not that good in RF. And you wouldn't see a Murton/Lawton?Burnitz OF. It would be Holla/Lawton/Burnitz, with Murton facing LHP. I'd much rather have Lawton/Hairston/Burnitz with Murton facing LHP. Lawton is really worse in the OF than Hairston? I see what you are saying but I'd rather have Hairston backup 2B,3B and the OF and have a real bat like Murton's out there all the time. As long as Dusty's the manager and he has Holla on the team, Murton won't be out there all the time. I suppose I was hoping that Hendry moved Baker to the Dodgers before the deadline too. =P~
  19. Uh oh. From ESPN: Yikes....as X pointed out too maybe my idea won't work! I want Murtons bat in the lineup and once CPatt comes back M&M won't see the light of day.

I'd much rather have Lawton/Hairston/Burnitz with Murton facing LHP. Lawton is really worse in the OF than Hairston? I see what you are saying but I'd rather have Hairston backup 2B,3B and the OF and have a real bat like Murton's out there all the time.
  21. I agree, I hope that Hendry signs him to another year.
  22. I think it's a little ironic that Hendry is going to replace the guy with the highest OBP with Lawton. I'm hoping that Lawton can play CF and he can't be worse there than Hairston. I would rather have an OF of Murton/Lawton/Burnitz than Lawton/Hairston/Burnitz.
  23. That sounds like a more interesting story than the game report would be ... 8) 9 year old girls Serena!!!! Golly gee willakers I got in trouble with my wife because I LOL'd when I read your post. :-#
  24. My cousin Louie usually gives me the inside dope. As soon as it "falls" off the truck he gives me a call.
