  1. He stayed on top of that high pitch quite well.
  2. Is there anyone on the Indians I should look for? The pitchers are Bryan Bullington (Ind) vs Gaudin (Syr).
  3. If the Cubs give up Wood, Mitre and Walker for just Soriano I'd be shocked.
  4. I love the Jays. Adams is getting comfortable at the leadoff spot and Hill has been moved to third and they are only going to get better IMO. Imagine a manager letting a young guy play? That's the Toronto way.
  5. Great stuff Serena...thanks!
  6. I think Gerut should be playing CF and Murton in LF while having Hairston and Holla on the bench.....no platoon only rest the starters when they need it.
  7. Making the team better IMO is something that can last for more than one year. Burnitz has this year and maybe next year to excell and IMO he's a Gietti (sp) waiting to happen. I think if the Cubs get a solid offer (very good 22-25 year old player) or in a package for a Manny Ramirez type hitter it would make them a better team now AND in the future. I can't imagine Theo Epstein doing a deal to get rid of ManRam and replacing him with Burnitz unless the Cubs threw in other stuff to make the Red Sox better this year, including Walker, possibly Williams, and Dempster. The Sox want to win now, and going from Ramirez to Burnitz is not the way to do that. I never meant it to be a one for one trade as I said "package" for Manny. I think that Hendry could get very creative in a deal like this.
  8. I say we offer them Macias. Hendry would get fired if he made a bold move like that.
  9. I wonder if Hendry could make a deal to get Milledge from the Mets.
  10. From what I can gather, Murton has been an OF since he started college. I don't know about what he played prior to his time at Georgia Tech. Thanks CPatt. I suppose it would be too late to switch him there anyway.
  11. Has Murton always played OF? What did he play in college/HS? I was just curious if there was any possibility to move him to 2nd base.
  12. Ribbee, How do you think has more talent, Dancing Homer or the San Diego Chicken?
  13. Hahahahahahahaha. We need to start that at Wrigley. It would be a golden shower at Wrigley. Enjoy Serena and remember you're our eyes and ears there!
  14. I think that Walker loses his value if he's moved to LF. If he's at 2B he has some nice numbers but in LF he would be a below average LF IMO. Wouldn't the same be true of Soriano? If they are both on the team, they both need to be in the lineup with one of them playing LF. Either way the 2B is gonna be well above average and the LF slightly below. Still LF would be upgraded immensely. I always thought that Soriano had more power than Walker? I think Murton could give the same numbers as Walker in LF. That's not the point, though. What difference does it make if you are gonna have an above 2B and below average LF who plays where? You are still getting the same production. Obviously, I'd look to upgrade LF next year, with a league average or better producer, but if the Cubs can't get a LF this year and can only get Soriano....then they shouldn't pass it up because they will have a below average bat in LF (they already do). Also, I don't see Murton slugging .480 as Walker is, without hitting .330. He may get on base as much, but he won't hit for that much power. I don't see Murton as much more than an .800 OPS guy in the next couple years. I see Murton as a 15 HR guy with a high OBP and he would be a lot cheaper than having Walker out there. I'd look into dealing Walker if I were the Cubs if they do aquire Soriano to improve the team somewhere else.....maybe in a big package to get an impact LF.

  17. Wilkerson for Perez would work out well.
  18. I don't understand the extreme between sell and buy? Why does it have to be for whatever the Cubs can get? I see a team like the White Sox and they need a SS. Perez is available for the right price. If Hendry were to recieve what he thinks would make the Cubs a better team why wouldn't he do it? Who knows what the Red Sox would give for Burnitz but again if Hendry can find a way to make the Cubs better by dealing him why not do it? Would a package of Burnitz, Mitre, Raush, Holla and a prospect be worth Manny Ramirez, Millar and cash? I mean, work it anyway it would work for both teams and see how it could improve both. Didn't the Cubs and Red Sox make an impact deal last year that made the Cubs better while the Red Sox still went on to win the World Series? It can be done, to be a "seller" and yet improve the team if your spare parts match up with another teams. Look at the SD and Baltimore deal with Nevin....they are both in it and were looking to make their teams better. Again, seller is the wrong term IMO and I'll just stick with "Making the team better" from now on. Also, when I mentioned that teams would overpay look at what the Sox were offering for certain players. You just never know the panic mode some GM's might go into at the deadline and I'd take a shot at them if I were Hendry.
  19. I think that Walker loses his value if he's moved to LF. If he's at 2B he has some nice numbers but in LF he would be a below average LF IMO.
  20. He said IF teams are willing to overpay. Dont take things out of context, please. Thanks Roast. Jeff, do you think it's a sellers or buyers market? I believe it to be a sellers market and the closer to the deadline the more a team may offer for a player like Burnitz, especially Boston since they just lost Nixon.
  21. Probably and didn't the Boston media say the same thing about Nomar and running out ground balls? These guys (Boston press) have a worse case of ADD then any kid I've ever met.
