Here's a quote from the AP article on the Trib website: The Cubs hope he'll recover in time to start the 2006 season. emphasis added Um...what happened to Hendry's quote that it didn't matter whether surgery was in August, September or October, that Wood would be ready to go regardless? Not that I believed it then, but it sure looks more questionable when there is a headline expressing hope that Wood would be able to start the season on time. Good point. You would think the earlier the better.

    Hmmm...explain Bakers thinking. I think we'd have a better chance of explaining why some people think Whoopie Goldberg is funny then explaining why Baker does things.

    I like his defense too. If the Cubs had a Manny Ramirez type player in LF and Baker used Burnitz right...it could have worked. Man. I'd swear it was Sutcliffe that talked about Burnys D.

    Farnsworth=Patterson It stinks because I'm not sure Patterson can ever be a success with the Cubs again so they'll never get the return they could have a year or two ago.

    22, as of August 22nd. That's a phenomenal total for a pitcher in this day and age with a month left to go. Thanks. Man was I wrong about how well he would do in the NL.

    I really think it depends on cost effective Furcell will be. If the market goes nuts and he can get 8-11 I say no and go with Cedeno. If the Cubs can get him with a 6-8 with incentives I say yes only if the Cubs get a masher in one of the corners.
