  1. Thanks Bruce. How do you feel about this Edmonds move? It's a low-risk move. Worth a try although I said in my blog I'd take a pass if it were me. They're going to assign Dave Keller full time to Pie in Iowa. Let's just see what happens. Thanks. What's Keller going to focus on with Pie?
  2. Thanks Bruce. How do you feel about this Edmonds move?
  3. IMO, Fuku is the type of hitter Maddux would have problems with.
  4. Only I look younger! Did the Cards have any cool nicknames for Eddy? Like swan or spider?
  5. I would love to see if Davey Martinez still has anything left. So would Cindy to be important, more important to be nice> Where's cubette14 when we need her.
  6. Says you. So you're cool with gay jokes? The best gay jokes I have ever heard came straight from gay people. Let's hear some. :D
  7. He has? For the last month, he's been playing as his career numbers indicate...decent against lefties, horrible against righties. except he's been hitting really badly against lefties, too. his l/r OPS are .001 apart. (much higher obp for lefties, slg for righties) Then he should choke up a little more then.
  8. I don't like this move and I hope it works out for the Cubs. But, if this move backfires and the Cubs lose the nice little momentum they have had, I won't be happy. That being said, I'll wait and let things develop.
  9. If he were bad at hitting a baseball he'd be Manny being Manny doing something else!
  10. Ping...thanks for that, I have one kid on that list. There isn't a mad rush to draft a senior in college due to them having little leverage, correct? Unless they are a stud season of course. McAneney (P Virginia) can't be drafted this year?
  11. Wait until Edmonds does a dive and lays on the ground and watch Z fume.
  12. If he hurries now he can buy a bottle of Alou for only 19.95 plus 4.95 shipping and handling. This offer won't last long.
  13. When he got sent down for his rehab, a few years back, the AAA guys said he was the nicest, most respectful guy and even bought them stuff. He's an interesting character to say the least and a heck of a hitter.
  14. Edmonds is getting paid the minimum.
  15. Will Girardi be Hanks version of Billy?
  16. Yes. When they go too close to my dock and get taken out by my potato gun.
  17. I don't see what this has to do with anything. I'm guessing that Edmonds will hit 150 and give Johnson more AB's while Edmonds sits on the bench until he's released. The only positive that comes from this is it will stop Lou's moronic usage of batting Johnson against righties because he has his reliable veteran Edmonds now. Edmonds will most likely fail and quickly and we can see Pie brought back up and enter this platoon. If he produces incredibly high within the 1st week he might even get continued playing time. But, it seems the Cubs really want Edmonds from what I've seen. I think they will be pretty patient with him, at least until the trade deadline.

  19. What bothers me is that the offense is hitting well enough to hide Pie's struggles until he either got untracked or proved he may not be ready. Now, if he gets called back up he has to go back to square one and the Cubs will have to do this again.
  20. Ok...that makes me feel a little more uncomfortable. Jon...the rest of the group is from Chicago too, eh? Have any of these guys owned another team and is the Kaplan related to Gabe so a sweathogs reunion could be in the works?
  21. This would seem to be one huge step for Cuban. Does anyone know whether this "approval" indicates that Cuban will no longer have to worry about getting a majority of the owners to let him in? http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080513&content_id=2691506&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Holy cow...how much money does Cuban have? Net worth=2.8 Billion Thanks nilo. Does anyone know anything about this Canning guy and is he from Wisconsin?

  23. "Reds manager Dusty Baker said the batting order was correct on the dugout board and on his scorecard. "The guys hit out of order, and it's my job to catch that," Baker said. "So I take full responsibility." The problem was the double switch a few innings earlier, apparently Patterson and Ross weren't aware of it. Wow. Dusty owned up to something instead of making lame excuses or trying to blame someone else. Maybe he's turned over a new leaf. I agree, it's nice to see him taking the heat for that.
