  1. For 2007. 2008 is a whole new ballgame.
  2. There are many moves yet to be made. I'll let Mr. Hendry finish before I say yeah or neigh.
  3. so everybody should give credit to this year's Louisville, WV and Rutgers teams this year, because boy do some of those other teams have some good young atheletes. where was the 'young with freshman QB' talk when you were puffing about Syracuse's win over Illinois? The difference is these teams are in the top 15. the Big East has 6 teams in the top 15? when you said what you did, you were defending the Big East because they are young and up and coming, which has nothing to do with how good the Big East is right now. the three teams the Big East has in the top 15 are there because they only have one loss. they only have one loss because the rest of the conference compeltely blows. I don't know why everyone on the board has to keep going through this. I'd ignore it if it weren't so damn pervasive, but you're omnipresent with your whining about no respect for the Big East. iirc, you started it before the season even began. people suggested earlier in the year a thread for ND only discussion. I suggest a thread for you to complain about the poor underrated Big East. I did.

  5. With a win over ND, USC will jump Michigan. They've already done so in the two polls (Harris and Coaches) and a win over ND would not only increase USC's computer ranking but make Michigan's worse. True, but a ND win may push Michigan into it.
  6. Either that or move him now.
  7. As am I and we would still be arguing because I'd think the BE deserves 2 teams Louisville and Rutgers and you'd think that Wisconsin would be in there instead!
  8. nowhere near to the extent they can go crazy on the Big East teams. the comparison is UConn and South Florida and Syracuse v. MSU, MN, and NW. Syracuse beat Illinois and UConn beat Indiana what's your point again? Kansas is clearly better than Rutgers. they beat Kansas State who beat Texas while some Big East team beat Kansas State. When did they join the Big 10? I showed what happend with 4 teams and actual games between the Big East and Big 10. Also, both games were in Big 10 land. I was making a point about the nth degrees of Kevin Bacon. who mentioned Ill and In...even though In is better than NW. it's also pretty unfair to not put that UConn/Indiana game into context. That's because they actually played and the establishment doesn't like to go by facts of actual head to head competition. It's just much nicer for the "bigger" conferences to have this imaginary world where they are better. Also, they don't want the Big East to be good because that means that they can't come in here and recruit our kids.
  9. nowhere near to the extent they can go crazy on the Big East teams. the comparison is UConn and South Florida and Syracuse v. MSU, MN, and NW. Syracuse beat Illinois and UConn beat Indiana what's your point again? Illini actually beat Cuse the year before. Cuse and UConn being two mid-range Big East clubs beating the 2 dregs of the Big 10 means nothing in a one game deal. Beat MN & MSU (two mid-range Big 10 teams) after having gone through a Big 10 schedule like they do, and you might have something. Until then, it's still meaningless and the Big East isn't the conference the Big 10 is. Sorry but Syracuse and Illinois didn't play last year. Cuse and UConn are in last place in the Big East. Yeah OK, the entire country realizes the Big East isn't on the level of the big 3 conferences. You don't have to believe it if you don't want to, that's fine. But you're wrong. Big East might have some nice schools and might be putting out some decent kids, but overall it's not the same level of football over the course of a season. Maybe it will be someday, but it isn't right now. The entire country also thinks that wins are an excellent metric for evaluating pitchers but does that make them right also? Also the teams are all young with 6 QB's that are Sophmores or less. It's only going to get better IMO so face it Big 10, SEC and Big 12...we are no longer just a basketball conference! Of course the "established leagues" voting in the coaches poll will try to keep us down.
  10. I know people here (including me) generally put more faith in you than in other news writers, but other articles I've seen say that Soriano will play CF. Of course, they could just be guessing. How sure are you that RF is the plan for Soriano? Very sure. I wonder if all those assists in 2006 have convinced Hendry Soriano can play right? Maybe they are still serious about Lugo in CF.
  11. I'll be quite annoyed if Michigan is the team selected to play Ohio State in the BCS Championship game. They had their shot, close enough isn't good enough.

  14. Trade him and others to Florida for Cabrera. Pie isn't going to net Cabrera. It's going to take an elite prospect to land him and then some. Pie is by no means "elite." I think Murton, Pie, Hill and 1 top pitching prospects like Veal would do it.

  17. I just can't get into college basketball regular season as much as I used to. The season is too long and you can lose 12 games and still win the NCAA title.
  18. kctigers pointed this out last time it was brought up, but of the 34 walk increase, 13 of those were intentional. He did see a lot more pitches per at bat though as well. Not really. He saw 3.90p/PA in 2006. In 2001 he saw 3.84 and in 2004-5 he saw 3.65. Barely a career best, and not a gigantic improvement over 2004-5. He could also be swinging and missing less.
  19. If he has recognized that outside slider like Sammy did later in his career it could be a very good thing.
  20. I heard the Cubs are still going to go after Pierre and get him to play second since he's so familar with the grounders that are hit in that direction.
  21. Good point and we should be wanting ARod instead!
  22. It must be official, I just heard it on Radio Disney.
  23. Interesting. Maybe a Jones and others trade to Boston for Manny? Also, this gets rid of the Lugo for CF thing.
  24. That wasn't a nice thing to say. True perhaps but not nice.
  25. I think that's what it took to get him to sign, you have to go the extra yard if you want the big signing IMO. Exactly. I'd like to see how this deal is structured. I wonder if we still have the money to get drew? If not, then maybe we trade for ManRam? I want to see it too. I admit this is kind of exciting because I can't remember the Cubs ever signing one the top 3 free agents since I've been a fan. I really wish it were Vlad or Beltran from the previous years but what the heck. Hasn't happened since Andre Dawson. Andre was a gift but you're right he was a big signing.
