  1. Holy heck, Dr. Nick has made a boat load of cash off these guys! I suppose they weren't smart enough to have them shipped to another address or name? Bonds knew what he was doing and he had the guy bought off so he won't say a word about it.
  2. I think part of it is that the NFL deals with it right away while baseball lets it loom for way too long making it a bigger. Think of the politicians that get caught doing something. The ones that say "yeah I did it" right away are usually forgiven pretty quickly but the ones that try to hide it and let it fester, face a longer public scrutiny.
  3. i do question his philosophy of resting though, he seems to pull out the strangest guys when we have the lead (not often) but never guys with history of injuries like Lee and ARam. I assume you mean a big lead, correct? If it's close I want my best defensive guys in there and that's what Lee and Ramirez are. Plus, don't the Cubs have a game every day for the next 16 or so days in a row? I think it's wise to give them all a break every so often, especially with this heat we've had.
  4. Dare we hope for Mr. Phillips to be their next GM?
  5. OK...let's please talk about the subject instead of ripping each other. Thank you.
  6. Could that guy throw hard or what? Do they actually know what he hit? There was no way to tell back then, some experts believe his FB was between 105-110MPH. Imagine 110? Wow.
  7. you're right...mlb should step in and disqualify the cardinals from the 2007 season because he got hgh shipments in 2005 and some guy on a message board says ankiel allegedly used coke like eight years ago (and because they don't "deserve" it). let's just see if mlb can mandate a division title for the cubs while we're at it. the whining in this thread would be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic. Whatever. More of your ultra-sarcastic B.S. I couldn't care less. There are plenty of other things that could be done. How about a suspension, or at least an actual investigation of Ankiel? But hey, don't let that stop you from acting like a dick. How can you suspend him when HGH was allowed at the time? If there's a witchhunt as far as HGH and Ankiel, you have to do so w/all of the MLBPA. Which I'm fine by as I'd love to see Olympic style testing but neither the PA or Selig/owners truly want. So they (Olympics) can test for HGH?

  9. I thought part of HGH is that you could have a better workout and be able to continue doing so because of the recovery time? The 3 things it helps most with an athlete: Increase energy and stamina Build muscle and strength, improve fitness Accelerate healing I agree. Wouldn't that also include being able to have a good workout to increase the illegally acquired mass?

  11. Probably because they were 1st pitch fastballs that they were sitting on? On the most part. You tell your pitchers to get ahead and what are they going to throw to do that? A fastball in most cases. Usually the best pitch your going to get is the the first pitch and thus the often swings. But, it's also best to do some situational hitting as some have mentioned the first 2 guys swinging at the first pitch, you have to let a few go by but what hurts the 3rd hitter in this process is that the pitcher knows this too and he grooves the first one to the third hitter thus putting him in the hole at 0-1 which puts the favor in the pitchers direction and the snowball continues to grow.
  12. Because the NFL is going to vote him the MVP when the season is over.
  13. Man, you're an eternal optimist -- that's gonna get you in trouble. I like what Lou is doing on the most part and it's been quite refreshing compared to foolishness of Baker.

  15. If I remember correctly, the Yanks had someone else close while a certain closer of theirs pitched the 8th. I think Marmol will make a very good closer and in time he'll be handed the ball in the 9th. As for saves, I don't know why they don't give the pitcher that gets a save more points for a 1 run lead save and less for a 3 run or 3 good innings save. I'm more impressed with a guy that saves a 1 run game then I am when a guy comes in with a 3 run lead and gives up 2 runs and still gets a save. So, 3 points for a 1 run save, 2 for a 2 run save and 1 for a 3 run or 3 inning save.
  16. Now maybe the St. Louis media can look into how Roger Clemens gets away with "staying" young. Clemens' production the last few years has made me raise an eyebrow. Sad thing is I'm also getting weird feelings about Nolan Ryan and his stats. :( As do I. I really don't think it was just advil that helped him. Anyone who does well past 36 years old (Clemens, Ryan) or their numbers jump up (D Lee) is now suspect. Very sad. D Lee isn't that old. Many players like Pujols, Helton, and others have been accused of taking this stuff too and I'm curious to see if there is smoke, maybe there's some fire to this. Let's face it, the vets know how and where to get the good stuff and how to keep it quiet.
  17. I trust Lou and that he knows his players and when to play them. I believe that Lou sees the big picture and IMO the Cubs will start to hit in about a week and still be refreshed while the others start to fade.

  19. I think his ribs are bugging him more than they are letting on.
  20. You're not exactly going out on a limb by saying this... without injuries, McFadden and Brohm are the two guys virtually guaranteed to go in the top 5 next year. Probably Jake Long, too. Yeah, I know. If he would have declared last year he probably would have been at the top also. I will go out on a bit more of a limb (not that that's saying much) and say that he'll win the Heisman this year. Booty is going to get a ton of consideration because he plays for USC. Brohm will also get more respect than Brennan because Louisville actually plays in a BCS conference even though their schedule is fairly easy as well. While I'd like Brohm to win it, I have a feeling it's going to end up being McFadden or Booty. Brohm could have a better season, but he'll never get the hype of those two in the media. And that can actually sway voters when all they see is news and highlights from one or two guys. People will also look at Louisville's schedule and say he didn't play any tough defenses. (Much like they'll say for Colt Brennan, right before they say he's just a product of his offensive system) They'll ignore the fact that he's been putting up big games since he became a starter. But yeah, if the team that lands the first pick is looking quarterback, I see him going number one. Especially if that team is Atlanta. Bobby Petrino is probably praying to get his old QB back. I admit the first 2 teams that Louisville played are weak but they go on to play: Kentucky, NC State and Utah from here, plus ALL the Big East teams. Colt is playing against poor competition the whole year except for a game against Washington. I always respect USC's schedule because they usually only play 1 creampuff a year. Arkansas plays Troy, No. Texas, Chatt, and Fla International in their out of conference schedule....that's just horrible.

  22. no smack talk this week? I already wrote some smack talk....I've been waiting for you to respond!
  23. Not as many as Michigan will get. That will depend on whether or not Michigan loses next week - which is definitely a possibility. And App St. wins. I still see an 0-2 Michigan getting more votes than a 2-0 App St.
