And how hard an out is hit matters? Yes hitting the ball consistently hard matters I didn't say anything about hitting a ball hard consistently. Of course that matters. Hitting a ball hard for an out is still an out. And how many of their hard hit piss rockets were hits tonight?

Knebel has been pretty decent since his return from the minors (small sample size, I know).

Sure, they're making great contact....for outs. A bloop single is a line drive in the score book. A rocket line drive out is an infield pop fly in the score book. Good thing nobody cares about how something looks in a score book anymore And how hard an out is hit matters?

Brewers have won 6 of the last 9. And how many would the Cubs have won but for the shutout? Disco only mentioned they're not hitting, which has been the trend against the Brewers this season. This one is a tad different. We’ve hit 5-6 rockets right at people. Not much else you can do Sure, they're making great contact....for outs. A bloop single is a line drive in the score book. We're 11-7 against them and have shut them out 6 times. Brewers have won 6 of the last 9. And how many would the Cubs have won but for the shutout? Disco only mentioned they're not hitting, which has been the trend against the Brewers this season.

10 total hits in the last 21 innings against Brewers pitching. Their rotation may be "trash", but the Cubs offense is trash, way too often.

This same question could be seriously asked of just about every player on the roster.

Seriously? While Madden has made some questionable moves at times, who really is producing at a good rate and not getting playing time? Bottom line is it rarely seems to matter who gets playing time lately. The whole team right now is very average at best. Very little timely hitting....or hitting period. Starters can’t pitch past the 5th. Relievers can’t get guys out. Defense has been less than stellar. Madden may not be managing at his best, but his players have been nowhere near their best for most of the season, save a couple of players. He put Carl Edwards into a tie game with guys on 2nd and 3rd. What reliever should have been used? An overused Cishek that early? Maybe an underused Strop that early? What reliever makes you ooze confidence?

Bring on Game 1 of the NLCS at Wrigley!

I love the continuous posts each day in game threads: -[fill in the blank player] is gonna dong this inning -[Cubs are gonna put up [fill in the blank number] runs this inning -during a terrible offensive producing game, and down late, "The Cubs are coming back to win this one!" -"[fill in the blank player] horsefeathering blows donkey d!cks, he's so awful!!" just before he homers. A blind squirrel eventually finds a nut, right?!?!? OK, that last one on the list was a joke. But the other, right?

Disagree. VBs will open a lead, say 5-1. Cubs score a junk run in the 8th or 9th.

Very often the Cubs offense is trash. Trashier than the VBs starting pitching.
