  1. Lots of adversity - yes. Most improbable in the history of sports. Not so certain. I would venture to say there were lots of experts, fans, etc. that expected him to win another tournament.
  2. Oh, I can Hawk Theisman Musburger Joe Buck often Those Cardinal dolts The Yankees guy Michael whatever Dick Vitale Milo Hamilton and Dwayne Staats Harry Carey after the stroke Jon Gruden Most color analysts associated with ESPN The list goes on and on.
  3. Why can't we give negative hearts? “Most improbable comeback in the history of sports.” That was said multiple times in the telecast. C’mon. He’s a great player that had to overcome a lot of adversity (some self induced). And it’s very good for golf ratings and anyone associated with televising golf. But I think it was a bit much. Unlike/unheart all you want.
  4. The love fest was a bit much.
  5. Good riddance. Hawk was not very good at announcing. I get being a homer in order to satisfy the fan base. But he became an old, angry, crotchety man who would not just root for the Sox, but openly root against the other teams/players. And he was very often wrong in his analysis and interpretation, especially when it came to balls and strikes prior to pitchtrax. So long crybaby.
  6. Brandon “for the season” Morrow
  7. Knew it wasn’t the Cubs on fire. So it had to be something with/in the stadium.
  8. While I'd settle for 7, I really hope there's 8.
  9. Monty moving from the rotation to the pen is a big boost (obviously). That would've happened with Morrow and/or Strop anyway. But it still bolsters the pen a good bit.
  10. No it’s really a dumb sport most of the time Disagree. It’s a great sport most of the time. Just incredibly frustrating, especially when a part of a team underachieves.
  11. It’s like the old grizzled vet who used to be tha man. But as he’s aged, his skills are dismissing. To make matters worse, he’s pressing, because down in the minors is the young stud waiting for the call. And when the youngster gets the call, the old grizzled vet’s days are numbered. So he’s making mistakes more and more often, partly because of diminishing skills, partly because he’s pressing. That youngster is a robot.
  12. Keep hearing how baseball is stupid. It’s not. Cubs baseball is stupid because they can’t seem to score many runs for long stretches of games this entire season. But they’re in first place and have the best record in the NL. So as fans, we’ve got that going.
  13. That Browns kicker definitely needed to be cut. Umm, so did that sh!tty Vikings kicker.
  14. Back problems suck. Chronic back problems suck even more! I think there was another thread devoted to this, but what makes chronic back problems even worse is how some dumb yet normal movement or turn or bend or twist can completely throw your back out for days to weeks at a time.
  15. What st all makes you think this??? Corbin probably goes 6 or more.
  16. Yeah, but that was when the Cubs were good. This year's team is filled with weak-hitting ninnies.

  18. Anyone think Vasquez can get through the 9th unscored on?
  19. After the leadoff hitter, the answer is already, "No".
  20. Anyone think Vasquez will go 1,2, 3 in the 9th?
  21. On Thursday, the Miami Marlins traded outfielder Christian Yelich to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for outfielders Lewis Brinson and Monte Harrison, infielder Isan Diaz, and right-handed pitcher Jordan Yamamoto. Linky
  22. Aha!!! But if the Cubs go 2-9 and the Sh!tbirds go 8-2 in the remaining games before that series, they could STILL eliminate us. So there!
  23. Wonder what Joe MaddoningTM has in store for this game.
  24. VBs using 1st half Cy candidate (in VB fans' eyes) Junior Guerra in relief.
  25. Sweet sweetpeteman's Baadasssss Streak!
