  1. Why did he take Guzman out?? He easily could have gone another inning.
  2. Yes, let's blame the ump for a pitcher's inability to throw strikes. Well he through 4 strikes to the batter who walked previously. He never should have still been in the inning.
  3. That should be an unearned run. Damn ump.
  4. Ugh about the line-up. I'd start Murton and Theriot everyday. Floyd and Izturis should be on the bench.
  5. Still, ya gotta love his Ground ball out to fly ball out ratio. Yesterday it was 9 to 2. Could many of the ten hits been on the ground? If that's the case, perhaps many of them wouldn't have been hits in the Bigs...
  6. I find it hard to imagine that Ryu is a better prospect than Veal and Smarzdja, among others.
  7. I can't believe that people are criticizing Lee. His slugging % right now is higher than any other NL first basemen. Lee is magnificant as a hitter.
  8. I suggest pitching around Prince Fielder. Thanks!
  9. What's hurting the Cubs pitching is the longball. In the NL, the Cubs pitchers have more strikeouts (165) than other team. BAA the Cubs pitchers is a mere .229, second to only the Mets (and that's with Miller on the team!). Despite these good numbers, the Cubs are only 6th in the NL in ERA. The reason? The Cubs have given up more homers than any team, save the Nationals.
  10. Shouldn't Guzman be starting for Iowa tonight if he's going for the Cubs on Tuesday, May 1?
  11. Ohman is outstanding against lefties. How about instead of trading him, we keep him and actually pitch him against left-handed hitters. You know, use him for what he's good at!
  12. I have no confidence in Miller anymore. If Guzman isn't stretched out enough, try Marmol. Heck, O'Malley looked great in his one start last year! There's at least a very slim chance he could do it again in another start. I don't think there's any chance Miller could go a complete game shut out.
  13. Guzman, Marmol, Walrond, and O'Malley would all probably be better options than Miller. Cut him. Try Guz first for a few starts.
  14. Hope to see Marmol continue to tear up the PCL tonight. What I like most about his year so far: only 2 walks. He was tough to hit last year in the bigs, it was the walks that hurt him.
  15. It's the one main decision i disagree with lou about so far. miller's throwing batting practice up there.
  16. Seconded Add Murton to that as well. The kid deserves some respect. And Barrett isn't half bad either... ...and Theriot... heck, even Jones/Floyd aren't bad hitters. I like our lineup!
  17. Two things I like so far about today. They involve my two favorite cubbies (outside of Lee and Zambrano): 1) Theriot with ANOTHER hit and ANOTHER SB. It's his 5th SB in 5 attemps this Spring. 2) Murton showing off the arm. The better D he plays, the more he'll start over Floyd.
  18. Good thread, Don. I've def been wondering about Cherry and his stuff. How hard does he throw, etc etc?? Anyone seen him in person?
  19. From AZ Phil of the Cub Reporter: I'm glad to see this progress in Pie's game.
  20. Only the Braves, Diamondbacks, and Rockies have more in the NL...and arguably Samardzzzzjaaaa and Colvin could be on the list as well...
  21. I hope Guz pitches like this in Spring Training!! I'm still kinda hoping for a rotation of: Zambrano, Hill, Prior, Lilly, Guzman
