  1. ummm.....he was dominating in his first start after he signed (against the cards) til it was rained out. he's 0-2 since this topic is ridiculous.
  2. you are so overwhelmingly negative, it makes me not even want to follow game threads. can anyone tell how to block? There is an ignore feature, but if you are expecting positive posts when the club is blowing their best opportunities of the season in front of our eyes, you might find it's not just him that is negative. They are in first place, even though they were 10.5 games back earlier this summer! Every team in the division would trade places with us. And they're about to go either 4-2 or 3-3 on a west coast road trip, with one of the teams also in first place.
  3. to be fair, we picked up kendall (though it wasn't right AT the deadline). he's def helped at offense for the catcher spot.

  5. San Francisco just tied it up at 4 against the Brewers!
  6. Good think you're not paying him then....the Cubs are. He's still one of the best first baseman in the league. Really? You really think he is? I would rather have at least two other guys in our division. Sure, Pujols and Fielder are better offensive players right now. But I said one of the best in the league, not THE best. In fact, he's still one of the best in the majors. Pujols, Fielder, Howard, and Maurneau.....who else is better? Maybe Texeira. He's certainly one of the best. Hafner, Adrian Gonzalez, Carlos Pena You'd trade him for them? I sure wouldn't. Is it Gonz .342 OBP that you like? (vs. Lee's who's above .400) Or perhaps Hafner's .436 slugging? He's more of a DH anyway. Pena's having a career year. For the money Adrian and Pena are making vs. Lee I would think about it. If, and its a big one I could use that money to get an outfielder or two who produce at a big league level. Yeah, but then'd you complain that the 10 mil outfielder is a waste because there's someone else in the league who's cheaper putting up numbers almost as good. Bottom line is that Lee is NOT the problem on this team. It's odd to call him out.
  7. Gonzalez isn't better than Lee by any measurement. He has a .342 OBP...that can't touch Derick! His extra 6 dingers don't make up that difference.

  10. Of course it would be nice if we could win games that favor us on paper, like Z vs. Cain Eh, it evens out as the Cubs won the game where the Giants looked better on paper (Lincecum vs. Marquis). And Cain has arguably been better than Z this season. With a 5-13 record????? He's pitched well. His ERA is lower than Z's. He plays for a crappy team that doesn't score a lot of runs, which is why his record is bad. His record is a reflection of how poor the giants offense is, not his pitching.

  12. Of course it would be nice if we could win games that favor us on paper, like Z vs. Cain Sure, but we won the first game, which didn't favor us on paper....Marquis vs. Lincecum
  13. Yes, DeRosa or Kendall should bat second. Def NOT Jones.
  14. To be fair, Murton usually shows patience. Jones not so much.
  15. Horrible at bat by Jones too. Theriot and Fontentot both showed patience that inning...but not the outfielders (Murton and Jones). Maybe we DO need more lil middle infielders on this team!
  16. Ugh....Ward getting picked off, and now Murton not advancing the runner....that's 2 runs right there...
  17. Didn't we come from behind the last two days folks? We can do it again today.
  18. No offense, but I don't hope that you're right.
  19. John Lackey and Josh Beckett are in the running for that award as well. They might be 4th and 5th (Beckett ahead of Lackey), but not top 3. They both have ERA's in the 3's, and they've a lot more hittable than Haren, Bedard, and Santana. Lackey has actually given up more hits than innings pitched. Escobar's been better than Lackey too. WHIP order: Santana, Bedard, Beckett, Haren, Escobar, Lackey ERA order: Haren, Escobar, Santana, Bedard, Beckett, Lackey K's order: Bedard (gap) Santana (gap) Beckett, Haren, Lackey, Escobar IP order: Santana, Haren, Bedard...
  20. When are they going to get rid of Morgan? Seriously...he's really bad.
  21. Too bad they can't start the game now...
  22. Weather.com says the chance of rain from now until midnight for every hour is 80%. After midnight, it's 100%.
  23. The AL Cy def looks to be coming down to Haren, Bedard, and Santana. My pick would probably be Bedard right now, just ahead of Haren.
