  1. I'd be insane by now if I hadn't switched to just finding it all humorous...
  2. Grady Little makes moves that make no sense. We've had enough of that. He has his good points, but I want someone that knows how to both fill out a lineup card AND make good moves in game... Little isn't that person.
  3. You know, Dusty was quoted in the Daily Herald saying he would rest Nomar today... I wonder if someone stepped in and made him play Nomar...
  4. Something's fishy... Dusty's brain may have woken from a coma to not start neifi or macias two days in a row. Glad Corey gets some protection coming back... No, I'm sure he won't try to hit home runs exclusively... I mean, if he gets a base hit, he can steal 2nd, AND 3rd... and then maybe a wild pitch could score him...
  5. I hope Remlinger DOES get a world series with the Red Sox. Any Cubs player that's had to to deal with Dusty deserves to be traded to whoever wins the world series this year...

    .500

There is NO reason to keep Dusty. Everything he is supposed to be good at, he has failed miserably with the Cubs. Everything he is supposed to be bad at, he's even worse than could be imagined. Neifi Perez has over 400 ABs... that's beyond inexcusible.
  7. That sig is freaking me out, Derwood...
  8. Hmmm, I guess Steve Stone and the Red Sox probably wouldn't have much use for Tony Gwynn. Ah Tony Gwynn comparisons now. :D Wasn't Gwynn a really good defender?? Also, it didn't hurt that he batted left-handed. One thing is for sure, Murton can hit lefties. I hope this board doesn't crash w/ excitement after Murton's single up the middle in the 2nd. :o No worries, Dusty will probably bench him for not working the count better or something...
  9. I'm not sure I believe that lineup... There's still time to scratch Aramis for his various pains and plug Macias in there... Of course, we could score 12 runs, still lose, and never see such a "sane" lineup again.... There, I've predicted it, now it can't happen...
  10. Neifi Perez, our "good 25th man" Has more at bats than all but Derrek Lee and Jeremy Burnitz, who have all of 4 and 11 more AB's respectively. I mean, I don't care how many injuries we've had... that's just wrong. I don't even see how it's conceivable. He's played in more games than anyone but Burnitz, who has a whopping 1 more game. That's right, Neifi Perez has played in more games for the Cubs this year than Derrek Lee. Neifi is LAST among players with 400ABs in Walks with 11. Ok, that last one I can believe...
  11. couldn't be, he's hitting close to .300!
  12. Did I somehow give the impression that I didn't want Dusty Fired? I just don't think this thread will accomplish anything. I've been saying fire Dusty since he started playing Neifi in like January...
  13. Actually, it could hurt. Dusty has shown that he responds to criticism by continuing to do what he was critisized for doing just to prove how big he is because he's the manager. He might think a thread on a message board saying he should be fired justifies how he does thing. No, I don't think that's rational. It's just that a bunch of people hopping in to say fire dusty doesn't show much, especially as the number of "signatures" you get will be small even if every member signs it. Link to the "Bad managerial decisions" thread... it's a much more interesting and relevant read...
  14. Weren't you one of the many who last offseason proclaimed, "Hendry is taking back this team" after he let Alou, Mercker and Farnsworth go? So, now it's back to being Baker's team. Hmmm... :-k I don't think I was. I don't recall saying that. Doesn't mean I didn't of course. I have until very recently always been a fan of Hendry. I thought he was doing what he could in the offseason, but I've always thought he had restrictions put one him... first and foremost getting rid of Sosa at any price. Until recently I didn't really belive he made decisions based on what Dusty wanted. However, Dusty's pure obstinance in playing his boys over young talent and Hendry not getting rid of Dusty's boys to stop it, means that he not only doesn't want to cross Dusty, but he seems to approve of his philosophy... Hence, my change in opinion of Hendry...
  15. they will not care about this board or this thread. They know the fans are upset with Dusty already. They've shown they aren't going to do anything about it. Maybe that will change, but emails linking to a messageboard won't cause it.
  16. It's ridiculous to play Wood from the bullpen if he's hurt. Not only can he not hope to be as effective as he should be, but he's not a reliever, and putting him in those situations cannot help him or the team. This team is done, and not realizing it could seriously cost Wood.
  17. Every day that goes by with Dusty as the manager, my respect for Hendry dies a little more. Not only did he make the wrong decision to hire Dusty (Everyone who ever followed him with the Giants knew that he had the problems we all know now). He's made the problem worse by playing into Dusty's hands and signing "his guys." This team was ready to take a major step forward with youth and talent. Instead, we're now stuck in veteran mediocrity with talented youth being wasted on the bench, and talented veterans being misused and abused ending up hurt or slumping uncontrollably. Hendry makes phenominal deals when he is given opportunities to. When he is handcuffed (like last season offseason with Sosa), or when he gives Dusty too much say in things... he doesn't know how to handle it. If he would drop Dusty and be more assertive with building the best team and giving it a manager that knows how to use it, he would be the right guy for the job. He has not shown any willingness to do that.
  18. This team has been a joke for a long time already.
  19. Lawton was never the answer. He was a mild upgrade asked to be a spark, with everyone expecting nomar and wood getting back to be the real spark. Of course Nomar sitting kills any spark he might bring, and wood in the bullpen isn't exactly awe inspiring...
  20. If he's fragile enough that he has to sit after ONE game, he shouldn't be back yet. However, I would bet money that it's just Baker and his boys at it again...
  21. I'm glad Nomar is here... to sit on the bench.
  22. i wish it weren't, but i definitely think it is. I think JH has been one of the better GM's in baseball. Sure he's had shortcomings, but as a whole, his body of work is impressive. Not if he sticks by Baker.
  23. I don't even dream it anymore...

    Uh oh

who cares... Lee having an awesome individual season is only good if the Cubs win as a team... Otherwise it's just a reminder of how good the team could have been. Lee is hurting and would get more rest if the team was playing better (ie Dusty wasn't managing), and he wasn't needed just to try and win games...
  25. Unfortunately, I don't think this vote of confidence is the kind right before a firing...
