  1. 11/19 Not a great night for our guys - Tigres beat Caribes 3-2 Cedeno (SS) 0-4, error Greenberg (CF) 0-3, BB
  2. 11/18 Caribes win 10-2, Greenberg (CF) 0-2, 3BB, 2R Tigres win 2-1, Cedeno (SS) 2-4, double, R FWIW, both teams are leading their respective divisions.
  3. Can we trade the rights to Macias?
  4. 11/17 Tigres win 9-5, Cedeno (SS) 2-5, double, 2 RBI, error Greenberg appears to have gotten a night off.
  5. Why would Dusty care how much money Hendry is paying a particular player? I think we've all agreed that Hendry has little input on who Dusty plays, so why does Dusty care? If I understand this correctly, Dusty's thinking is "I think that Murton would be a better player than Alou, but because Jim is paying Alou $7 million I guess I better start him instead." I can't imagine why Dusty would care about what anyone is being paid. I'm pretty sure Dusty has been quoted saying "Player A isn't being paid X to sit the bench" or something to that effect. If I can find a link to that I'll have to change my sig.

  7. What if Giles is wary of signing a long term contract with a team whose GM, manager, and coaching staff are all on 1 year contracts? I know lots of us would like to see changes in all those positions, but would you want to sign a long term deal to be a part of an organization when you have no clue about who will be leading it next year? I'm not pushing for extensions for Hendry and Baker, and it's too late now to change for next year, but I just think that uncertainty isn't an advantage on the free agent front.

  10. From the Minor Leaugue forum: Premium Link Link Stats (I think through last Sunday) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATEADOR AVE JJ VB CA H BA H2 H3 HR CI BB SO SH SF GP BR OR SLG OBP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- CEDENO RONNY (TIGR) .237 10 38 4 9 11 2 0 0 2 2 7 0 1 1 0 1.289.286 GREENBERG ADAM (CARI).289 26 90 16 26 40 6 1 2 12 8 24 1 1 2 2 3.444.356 The titles are in Spanish, but you can figure it out. Ronny got a later start, but has played regularly since he did start.
  11. Well, that explains his hitting issues - what do you expect from a big-time pitcher? :D
  12. Maybe if we're going to count on lack of injuries to improve performance, the Cubs ought to hand out HOPE bracelets instead of BELIEVE.
  13. This thought worries me a lot...but you're probably right. This has to be considered. I've only heard the need for a speedy lead off hitter. I haven't heard a word about improving on base percentage at the top of the order. Players love to hit. It has to be difficult to lay off pitches. Cudos to those who are patient. Would Pierre and Furcal absolutely love to become free swingers since that appears to be Cubs managements philosophy? I seem to recall a thread last year showing statistically that players joining Dusty's Cubs had actually increased their walk rates. I can't think of how to search for it. Is my memory out of whack on that?
  14. 11/15 Cedeno's Tigres over Greenberg's Caribes Cedeno (SS) 3-5, 2 RBI, 1R Greenberg (CF) 1-3 Stats through 11/13 (I think) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATEADOR AVE JJ VB CA H BA H2 H3 HR CI BB SO SH SF GP BR OR SLG OBP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- CEDENO RONNY (TIGR) .237 10 38 4 9 11 2 0 0 2 2 7 0 1 1 0 1.289.286 GREENBERG ADAM (CARI).289 26 90 16 26 40 6 1 2 12 8 24 1 1 2 2 3.444.356
  15. Catching up, Cedeno continues to play SS and Greenberg is at CF 11/11 Caribes win 8-7, Greenberg (CF) 3-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 1R Tigres win 4-2, Cedeno 1-4 11/12 Caribes have a double header: Game 1 Greenberg (CF) 0-0, 1 BB, 1 SF, 1 RBI, 1 R pulled in 5th for PH Game 2 Greenberg (CF) 0-0, 1 BB entered in the 6th Tigres suspended 11/13 Greenberg (CF), 1-2, 1 R, 1 HBP Cedeno (SS) 0-4, HBP, error
  16. Is Kelton an infielder again?
  17. 11/10 Tigres win 8-1, Cedeno (SS) 1-4, run, rbi Caribes had the night off.
  18. Cedeno starts over Perez according to Hendry. You can continue to espouse this belief that he won't if you like, but it gets tiring to see that you state it as fact everytime the topic emerges. The fact is the GM promotes Cedeno as starting and Perez signed as a back-up super-sub for 2B, SS, and even 3B. Perez likely gets a lot of PT of the bench in that super-sub role under Dusty. Last year Hendry promoted the idea of DuBois starting in Left. That lasted until Baker got to fill out the Opening Day lineup. Dubois had a respectable shot. In April and May he had 93 at bats (Hollandsworth had 104) and he struck out 33 times with only modest power numbers. It's not like Hollandsworth was any better during those months...neither one of them stepped-up and claimed the job. In June Hollandsworth got hot, and that was it for Dubois. It's true that Dubois didn't start the season as the everyday LF, but then I don't recall that he was handed the job as confidently as with Cedeno. As I recall Hendry made some noises about him starting when Hollandsworth was signed - that he was going to get a shot at being more than a bench player.
  19. OK, I understand the leadoff player gets the most at bats, but how does it work that the leadoff hitter is more likely to come to bat with 2 out in the 9th inning?
  20. I don't know that the Yankees have to throw their name into every free agent, but I know if I were an agent I would do everytrhing I could to start rumors that the Yankees were interested in my player.
  21. I don't think a team that needs a SS mid-season is going to balk at Neifi's contract.
  22. Everyone is unproven at some point. That's the kind of wisdom we need from the Supreme Ruler of the World :P
  23. 11/9 Greenberg's Caribes beat Cedeno's Tigres 9-4 Cedeno (SS) 1-3 with a sac fly and RBI Greenberg (CF) 1-3 with a 2B Link
  24. Yeah, but people here get criticized for saying the same things that person in the article is saying. Sometimes Hendry can do no wrong in the eyes of some. The only way to say something on this board without getting criticized is to not say anything at all. There are at least as many members that feel Hendry can do no right as there are who think he can do no wrong That's ridiculous. Thank you.
