  1. with the payroll what it is, yes, this is the most disappointing(other than the end of 03, which will stand by itself forever).
  2. this is one of my favorite threads ever. we should have a classic forum, just so threads like this can live on forever by themselves.
  3. obviously dempster can do the job, he has proven that much, but when you don't get a save opprotunity forever then you get them but they are very spurratic imo it's unfair to expect perfection. sure he's been far from it, and for that he is as accountable as anyone else, but he's one of the few i haven't lost faith in...yet
  4. Nope. No kidding. So far, Hendry's answer to this offensive offense has been to call up a no htting OFer, then exchange him for a light hitting 2B (the 4th on the roster) and then send that guy down for a career light-htting 2B he just pulled off the scrap heap. Hendry clearly gave up on this team the moment Lee broke his wrist. That has to be the explanation, but the only other possible explanations would be inability to SEE what is wrong ir inability to do anything about it...either of which are inexcusable from a GM. WOW. How can you say Hendry has given up on this team??? You have GM's in baseball saying he is always on the phone. WOW your comment does not make any sense. No teams are willing to make trades in APRIL. WOW you must be... well im not going to say it because im in shock you really think hendry is doing something? when are some of you people going to give up hope of anyone getting fired or DFA'd? it's very unrealistic to think something going to happen. have you not heard andy MacPhail or hendry recently?
  5. nowadays he'd be a Triple-A [bleep] unless it was the cubs. then he'd be making $5 million over two years and saving the team.
  6. Uhhh..after watching a friend struggle with heroin addiction for 3 years, going on and off of it and eventually dying because of it, I can tell you that's not true. [rant] yeah, a couple of days of withdrawal my you know what. watching my cousin deal with her addiction over the last several years has been devastating. she became someone completely different. the cubs are in no way comparable with heroin addiction. i know it's a joke, but the effects that drug has, on more than just the using person - it's taken it's toll on the whole family, is much much different than heroin. [/rant]
  7. How much experience did Ozzie have when he took the Sox to the promise land last year? He coached with both Montreal and Florida before being named manager. did he bench coach or play in atlanta under bobby cox? i seem to hear him reference cox alot. are there any people on atlanta's coaching staff that might take the job here?
  8. Pierre will be out by 2 steps instead of 1. seriously. why does the length of the grass even matter? we have a team that is last offensively in obp and first in pitchers giving up walks, yet people want to talk about cutting grass? [allen iverson]we're talking about cutting grass, man. not a game, we're talking about grass. [/allen iverson]
  9. dusty getting the team fired up isn't going to help their obp, and it's not going to stop the pitchers from walking everything in sight.
  10. so if they cut the grass really low, does that mean that juan will just ground out to second quicker? why not, it'll get it over faster.
  11. thank you for providing me with a genuine laugh through this barren wasteland that is cub fandom. :D
  12. when i realized a couple games back that we aren't going to win this year, and also for many more years to come. when i realized that it doesn't matter whether or not baker gets fired. when i realized that nearly no one in the organization has an iota of what makes a winning team, that's when i hit bottom. it may have been when wood gave up the third homerun against the nationals(i think) when this occured to me.
  13. i didn't think the interview was until later. how'd you get the transcripts early?
  14. i would agrue that under the current management, it doesn't matter what we should do. i would go so far as to say we do what we can, but i have no idea what that even means anymore.
  15. if the patterson trade has been embarrassing, any trade involving prior would be a debacle, as we all know what will happen. on the other hand, prior has no reason to return once he hits FA, so maybe getting something wouldn't be the worst idea...
  16. baseball before steroids.... awww. look at little barry. :P
  17. you don't think that a player, specifically one of patterson's breed, can go to a new team with a different coaching staff/approach and do better? that's essentially a change of scenery.
  18. if this doesn't tell the organization that there are serious problems i don't know what will. how many knees to that special place can we take?
  19. i thought all white sox fans were of the tattoo'd, white trash, run onto the field and beat up the opposing teams first base coach persuasion. who knew they were so knowledgable?
  20. i don't know when we are going to figure this out, but no changes are going to be made. not this year, nor the next two. put your money on it.
  21. how are some of these pitches strikes? i don't understand.
  22. wow. he really couldn't lay off the low pitches huh.
  23. they sure do hug alot in the marlins dugout :?
  24. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
