  1. but do you think that dusty jumped the gun a little bit a couple times?
  2. Even as horrendous as the offense has been, our pitching has not kept us in games. We lost 14 of 16. In those 14 losses, our pitching has been giving up more then 6 runs in 10 of them (16, 9, 8, 6, 6, 8, 6, 9, 10, and 9) for an average of 8.7 runs in those losses. Even with a better offense, we would expect to lose all or most of the. Add in the 5-1 loss in Arizona and our pitching has only kept us in 3 games. Add in Dempster’s blown save yesterday and you are down to the 2 1-run games in San Diego that could be considered winnable. So even though the offense was weak, we weren’t really in many games where a higher OBP would have mattered. Our pitching has been terrible. The offense just made it more lopsided. that's what i meant in the second half of what i said. the pitching coaches don't seem to realize the problems that walking batters has had. it's orginizational, top to bottom, control seems to be something that is not curbed.
  3. You may be right, but I'd like to see what happens. don't get me wrong, i want dusty gone the same as everyone, but hendry is still the one signing people like neifi and rusch to insane contracts. Hard to argue with you. I could have lived with those deals had he done something to bolster the rest of the team. Alas, he brought unto us a pox called Jacque. it just seems like he doesn't pay attention to what he's doing. like he has this idea that he must have a lh right fielder and goes out to get that instead of the best person available. while there may not have been too many options, jacque was not even a decent one.
  4. say there were to be a fire sale on the northside. who stays, who goes, and what for? how would you rebuild this organization from what's there?

  6. even if baker gets fired tomorrow: as long as hendry is the gm, obp will never be a priority, and walking hitters will not be a concern of the pitching staff.
  7. that's it though. no one is concentrating, they even started to mess murton up.
  8. they're only good now because they aren't on the cubs anymore.
  9. does anyone else remember how much the cubs players argued calls during the 04 campaign? it seemed to me we got far less calls after all the 'fire' that year.
  10. Jones to NY, Hunter to Chicago, NY and CHC prospect to Twins. Then trade Pierre to a willing team. Extend Hunter. cosign!
  11. it's a conspiracy to lure roger clemens so that he will get the glory when he helps the astros rise up and overcome.
  12. the man is an excellent planner. if you listen closely when he talks about moves he makes, williams always seems to have 4 or 5 back up plans if plan a or b don't work. if only...
  13. anyone else listen to that ridiculous conversation on the radio earlier tonight(around 6:30 or so)? wow. does anyone else think that there is are major flaws in the organization as a whole, something bigger than dusty baker alone? you know, like the players they draft, the things they get taught in the minors, the injuries, the consistant failure of top picks, the constant failure of position players(though that may be getting better), the COMPLETE ignorance of OBP, overestimating the value fiscally of role players, underestimating the value fiscally of young guys, the free agents they try to/sign, the way the pitching staff is handled, etc etc etc. i thought the cubs brass wanted to make money. the way things are going in chicago, they won't be making the kind of profit they've seen since 03 much longer.
  14. Nice Sig mojo. Did you happen to see "Goodfellas" You might wanna check that out. i thought he was quoting the movie also. hmmm anyway. just give me someone who knows what the heck he is doing. i don't feel the need to be reactionary and get a yeller, but a manager, with a better hitting philosophy, and i wouldn't mind a new pitching coach also, one who understands that less pitches thrown = longer lasting success... some new players would be nice too, but hendry pretty much has them stuck there. where are the supporters of that one ex-houston manager? dirker? what about him?
  15. One Hundred Million Dollars says what?
  16. :) :o :? :x :(  :x
  17. Corey thus far: Key Stats AB HR AVG RBI R SB 65 3 .277 11 14 7 Pierre: Key Stats AB HR AVG RBI R SB 126 0 .238 2 18 11
  18. gotta love these 20 pitch innings for our pitchers vs the 6 and 7 pitch innings for opposing teams
  19. haha. i was just doing some studying of irony and sarcasm for my finals. I learned about four forms of irony this semester. It was enlightening. verbal situational dramatic and what? verse satire?

  21. Posting a .798 OPS mark bellhorn > neifi + hairston
  22. nope. really old rule. Alright, anybody wanting to know what happened who isn't watching or listening to the broadcast doesn't know what happened, and what if he scores the tying or go ahead run in a game? He's still the worst hitting player (with qualified numbers) in baseball history? What do I win? I can't wait to see Neifi drive in or score a game winning run and see nothing. That will be hilarious. can you give it a rest? who are you fighting for?
  23. nope. really old rule. People with 1200 posts since February obviously type more than they read. my thoughts exactly
