    Are you kidding? Find a post where someone has said it is 100% unacceptable to swing at the first pitch in any situation. You won't be able to find one. Of course we're going to complain if a batter makes an out on the first pitch. Making an out on the first pitch is essentially the most worthless at-bat possible. You should only swing at the first pitch if it's exactly what you're looking for and you're able to do something good with it. If you hit a homerun or get a hit, great, you didn't waste your one pitch at bat. But if you make an out (which Cubs players tend to do when they swing at the first pitch), you've had the worst at bat possible. Worse than hitting into a triple play?

    I think Dusty was using an analogy that he is familar with and made sense to him. If at the end of the season all that was wrong with Dusty was his use of fishing analogies, then the Cubs should have a very good season. That will mean they will be competing for the Bass Master, I mean World Series.

    Whatever the grad rate is at KState it will go down dramatically. Huggy is a very good coach and recruiter but he doesn't belong at a college campus IMO. Screw the grad rate.. we need to WIN! KU fans must be pissing down their leg right now! HAHA!!!! This makes my day! Sampson should be happy. He now has someone in the conference to challenge him on grad rates. Actually, have read somewhere in the last 2 days, that his last 11 seniors have graduated, and since 2000, he's had a great grad rate, minus his players that have gone to the NBA. I need to find the article again. You're talking about Huggins right? Because I don't think Sampson has graduated 11 in his entire time at OU. Will Budweiser now be the arena sponsor at KSU? :lol: :lol:

    fear isn't stopping scouts from basketball and football teams from going into the inner cities and watching kids play. good article, but i'm not feeling that quote too much. i'm surprised by the cost of playing baseball...i was in a little league team in '94 and it didn't cost THAT much. maybe $250-$300 at the most. all we had to do was show up for practice with a bat, glove, cleats and some flexible clothing. the jerseys and gameday clothing were part of the fee you paid at the begining of the season. how much is it to play baseball on a high school or college team? i'm guessing it'll be in the $1000-$2000 range? My high school team all you needed to buy were cleats and a glove, but that was in the late 80's. Did you have to wear helmets back then? :lol:

    doubt Louisville will make the tournament with this crappy performance. The only way they were getting in is if they won the Big East tournament. Yeah, they weren't even on the bubble. true..I think it was Digger Phelps that said a win might get Louisville in, but everyone knows that Digger Phelps is an idiot. Seton Hall, I don't think, should be getting in after the loss to Rutgers today. 4 interesting Big East games tomorrow as well as the NIU-Toledo quarterfinal matchup at 11 am :x I'll definitely be listening to a radio during the day at school tomorrow. That's ridiculous. L'ville had the same conference record as ND did and a similar non-conference schedule, right down to their best nonconference win being over an SEC team, except ND's team (Bama) was better than L'ville's (UK pre-Morris). If a win was getting Louisville in, then a win was getting ND in too. More proof that the preseason polls are stupid.
