  1. Bonds is an a-hole of the finest quality. However, Pedro Gomez spends more time hassling Barry than Mrs. Bonds. I think anyone would have had enough of dealing with him.
  2. I am still not a huge fan of the trade, but the money makes me feel better. Also, I apologize for being a smartass last night. I definitely overreacted.
  3. Are there any more details on the money. I know the Pirates already pay 5.5 of Kendall's deal, but does anyone know what our prorated chunk of this is?
  4. Well at least you aren't overstating things. Its my opinion about the player. Perhaps I should have been more clear in a message board post that it reflected my opinion. And it's my opinion that you are overstating it. Glad we clarified that. Refreshing for both of us, I'm sure.
  5. Translation...those morons in Chicago will cheer for any piece of crap in a Cub uniform.

  7. Maybe you should wait to see all of the details, as you, yourself admit you don't know how much CASH was coming he Cubs way. If the A's pick up the remainder of Kendall's contract, it is hardly a terrible trade. Blevins may turn out to be a decent player some day, or he may hit a rut in AAA and never make it to the majors. And your statement that Soto would likely produce better than Kendall is based on what? Talk about over valuing minor league numbers. If Kendall can put together a 2nd half in line with his past seasons, the Cubs made a good trade. My entire feeling is based around the fact that its going to be impossible for broken-down shell of his former self Kendall to produce anywhere close to his previous seasons.
  8. Yeah, because trading a crappy catcher and a minor league relief pitcher for a guy who has been solid in 11 out of his 12 MLB years is always a bad idea. His career is over. Yes, he used be great, but so did lots of other guys who got old and then weren't so great anymore. This would be example #23,456.
  9. Yea because there was so much talent at the Catcher postion on this team already. You are missing the point. Now that we have Kendall, THERE STILL ISN'T ANY TALENT AT THE CATCHER POSITION! We spent precious payroll to NOT get any better.
  10. IF we owe the remaining 3.75 million on Kendall's contract, we just gave up much of our deadline payroll flexibility for a 33 year old catcher whose tired, worn out body can no longer produce at a ML level. And that's just offensively. He sucks behind the plate and opposing teams may now run at will. Making Soto the starter would very likely produced greater results offensively and defensively. Instead it appears we've spent almost 4 million dollars to get worse behind the plate. If that was possible. Saying this may get me in trouble, but if you like this trade, get your head examined.
  11. Normally it pisses me off when players do that on a PK, but for Sanchez I make an exception. Anything that makes Oswaldo look stupid is worth it. I laughed when Riquelme hit the ball. I missed it, what did he do on the PK.
  12. I just caught all the youtube highlights of the group matches and I was blown away. That is the style that we should be playing. Attack attack attack. Like some others have said, it was refreshing to see, I don't know, a well-struck through ball. The finishing by Altidore, Adu, and Szetela has been outstanding. Altidore's goal against Brazil nearly brought me to tears. Do we have two guys on the USMNT that could finish that play? I think its definitely time to get some of these kids up to the big club.
  13. This will be close, but shouldn't be. Ping should win the whole thing.
  14. A married friend of mine (a guy) said that he thinks 2-4 times a week is actually better than every night, just because that way there's a little more effort out of both involved... I guess it's sort of the mentality where it's still regarded as a treat, whereas any sustained stretch of every night will make it turn into more of a chore. His words, not mine. I'm just throwing them out there. Quoted for truth. Oh, and for statistical purposes, married for 18 months, in the relationship for 6+ years.
  15. I don't think Raisin could survive the battle  - If I came up against Raisin, I'd vote for him. He's twice the poster I am. I'm comfortable with that. Just because he post twice (or twenty times) as often as you doesn't make him twice the poster you are.
  16. Anyone know where to get video highlights?
  17. As a tried and true "Yankee" living in the bosom of a town that Sherman burned on his march to the sea, I have only one word for my southern friends...SCOREBOARD.
  18. I'll shake my head in disgust.
  19. I pulled my fellow counselor even at 39.
  20. That is special, thanks Derwood! He would only have time to make those in support of himself if he hadn't gotten iced in the first round.
  21. Gotta keep it in the Carolina family. Go get 'em, Slugger.
  22. for those of us without the benefit of TV, an we get a brief summary? Thanks.
  23. PNC is absolutely fantastic. Enjoy the Burgh.
  24. I think we know who this guy voted for... http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002HFU.01._SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg We know how he likes it.
  25. I found it incredibly entertaining. Oh, and wifebeaters and addicts are not the same thing.
