  1. Abell has been solid every time he has hit the court. The only thing I've heard as a possible explanation is that he is not a good practice player at all. Which I understand the concept of only playing guys that practice hard/well/whatever but I still think the kid can help IU out in the games. Especially when a particularly quick guard is giving us trouble.
  2. Ron Zook? C'mon now. Crean completely failed at game theory last night (if Zeller doesn't foul out, then he was not played enough). Zeller should have been in the game at the under-4 timeout, roughly, and having him at the scorer's bench ready to check in and pulling him back with (approximately) one and one-half minutes left was foolish. However, unfortunately, this conservative style coaching is rather epidemic across sports. Crean will never be confused with Bob Knight; but he's still above average-ish. A closer approximation of Zook's coaching, ahem, acumen would be Mike Davis (who, unlike Zook, couldn't even recruit well). A bit of hyperbole never hurt anyone. :hello: In general, I still find myself not understanding Crean's sub patterns and timeout usage in multiple games.
  3. I'm starting to think maybe Crean is the basketball equivalent of Ron Zook. Maybe he should let his assistants do all the actual coaching for him and then he can just handle recruiting and clapping on the sideline. :good:
  4. I'm not sure who is more nerdy looking, Wisconsin's fans or Wisconsin's players. Nerdiest bunch of nerds who ever nerded it up. Also I love how Tom Crean benched Cody after the 4th foul until 1 minute left in the game. Sure he had 4 fouls and he might have fouled out sooner but you can't keep your best player on the bench that long.
  5. I have to say, when the game is on the line the guy I want shooting the three pointer is Brian Scalabrine. Cool game Bulls. :hello:
  6. As bad as it felt to see the Bears lose that NFCCG last season, at least it didn't end like that. Wow. That was a brutal ending for the Ravens.
  7. "We knew how good they were. Our guys had great edge tonight. They had excellent energy. We did so many good things." Good lord, Coach Clappy has turned into Bill Lynch. :banghead:
  8. Eh, they played well until the last 5 minutes of the Penn St. game. Minnesota was just an odd game. The Gophers definitely wanted it more and got to every loose ball. IU also inexplicably couldn't knock down shots at home. The game in Columbus was going to be a loss either way, wish it wasn't as bad as it was, but they also smothered IU defensively which we weren't prepared to deal with. I think they get back on track. I'm telling you man, Tom Crean must start feeding his team rat poison after about 5 Big Ten games each season. They just fall to [expletive] all of a sudden. And they never really had a truly dominant grip on that PSU game. It just isn't the same IU team now.
  9. Nice choke job Green Bay. =D>
  10. The way IU is playing right now I would not assume ANYTHING and that includes the Nebraska road game. This team hasn't looked quite right since the 1st half of the Michigan game.
  11. Verdell Jones can go to hell. That is all.
  12. They lost to LSU in overtime so yeah, I don't think they actually trailed in that game while the clock was running.
  13. On the other hand Daniel Moore and Tom Prichard couldn't make a 2 footer on an empty court Touche'. At least Moore doesn't even try. The day Daniel Moore is no longer eligible to play basketball for Indiana University, I will be a very happy fan.
  14. Roth and Hulls scored more points at PSU today then Purdue scored as a TEAM during their loss to PSU earlier in the week. 8-)
  15. Houston beating up on PSU.
  16. Great win, don't care how or why or who. 13-1 and beat a #1 and #2 in the same season for the first time ever. :stickman:
  17. Nothing says MNF halftime like doing a basketball interview.
  18. Gotta like shooting 9-14 from 3 and 7-11 from the FT line, in a half. 24 for 32 inside the 3-pt line for the game. Remy Abell is an interesting cat. Seems to play pretty well when he's in there. Would be interested to see how he develops, but I don't know that he'll be around for the long haul with Yogi coming in next year. I like how balanced their scoring attack can be. Through 11 games they still have 5 guys averaging more than 10 per game, with Jones at 8.9. Still not sure how the Big10 is going to go, but certainly exceeded expectations so far. At this point I'm setting my baseline expectation for the Big Ten record at 9-9 and hopefully IU can do a little better than that. The way we handle those first 3 conference games will go a long ways towards shaping my true expectation level for this team. 9-9 may actually be low. I'd like to think they go at least 7-2 at home (losses to Ohio St and at most 1 of Illinois, Mich St, Northwestern). On the road, should take at least Penn St, Nebraska and Iowa. That's already 10 wins and still should have a decent shot @ Purdue, @ Minnesota, and maybe @ Michigan I realize that. I'm just saying I want IU to do no worse than that. 9-9 should get us in the tourney for sure. I'm hopeful for a better Big Ten record of course.

Yeah but once Hulls graduates then Remy could be the guy to spell Yogi as a junior/senior. If he continues to develop that is. Honestly I think Remy may be playing more for us by the end of this season. I'd like him to eat up the minutes that Danny "super midget" Moore gets.
  21. You got my hopes up and made me fire up ESPN3 on my XBOX. :?
  22. Well the Blackhawks don't really get blacked out here per se but they seem to play a lot of games that I can't get anywhere, especially when they are on WGN which apparently is some kind of local WGN for Chicago because those games are not on the WGN superstation or whatever you call it.
