  1. Vinny Del Negro is coaching up these Clippers, that is for sure.
  2. Clearly a case of the "one bad inning syndrome".
  3. The moment they are competing for the playoffs they are competing for a World Series. I'm still amazed at how many people act like the playoffs aren't a crap shoot. Dan Bernstein does this [expletive] all the time. Always talking about whether teams are doing things to "WIN the World Series" like it's some sort of rarefied air. If you're ready to sneak into the playoffs via a wild card and a one game playoff, you're pretty much ready to win the [expletive] World Series. You'd think when the Cubs' biggest rival is the biggest beneficiary of this (twice!), people here wouldn't have a problem understanding this concept. Hah, well said. That said, I don't think it's fair to level this criticism at Nuts. He's always very bullish on our short-term outlook, and for good reason. What? Nuts isn't the one being targeted here.

Not to mention the 2008 Cubs toying with the league all year and then getting swept in the NLDS. That drove it home for me. I had zero doubt that Cubs team was going to win it. Which looks foolish in hindsight obviously...then compare to the 2003 team which won a playoff series and was one win away from the World Series. That team was like 51-53 at one point and I never thought they had a chance. And it was that team that almost got there.

Hah, we pretty much posted the exact same thought within a minute. :hello:

I mean if nothing else the shitty ass teams the Cardinals fielded in 2006 and 2011 are enough proof to me.
  7. Yes because bumping a ref who just called a technical foul on you, that is a smart decision. :good: There never should've been a T to begin with. He tripped over the ref's foot as he followed him. Well Charles did just label it as a turrible call. But still, don't make a bad situation worse.

  9. Considering we usually beat Halladay, we missed Hamels, Lee's on the DL and their offense is putrid, it's really not as surprising as you'd think. Nothing that you just said changes my mind. It would still be a pleasant surprise. Especially since our worst pitcher got matched up with Halladay.
  10. Going for my first game thread winning streak! \:D/ Taking 3 of 4 in Philly would be a very pleasant surprise.
  11. Darwin Barney is the emergency catcher fyi.
  12. Ian Stewart plates the first run. Kyle rejoices. \:D/
  13. LaHair would have scored but he thought Hunter Pence was going to snag that one...LaHair is in beast mode right now. :hello:
  14. Never started a game thread before, figure I may as well try my luck. \:D/ With Garza on the mound the Cubs at least have a chance.
  15. The Pacers enjoy playing down the level of the competition. :?
  16. so it is "fu" and then anything and then "ck" Yeah, that is what I am seeing too. lol.
  17. A fullback?
  18. What was done to bring about any animosity anyway? Theo's old boss was fairly unhappy with the compensation process. They got Byrd practically for free and gave up a guy they DFA. Why would they be pissed? Pretty sure he was talking about the compensation process for Theo coming to the Cubs.
  19. That happens all the time on MLB The Show.
