  1. Paging New York Knicks, paging New York Knicks... The Knicks? At least they won a couple of titles in the 70's and made the finals a few times in the 90's. The Knicks only made the Finals once in the 90's. 1994 Finals when they lost in 7 games to the Rockets in a series that took a backseat to OJ fleeing cops at 30mph on the LA freeway.
  2. Might as well go for the high draft pick. What else is there to play for? can someone fill me in who knows alot by amautuer baseball. Lets say we are picking top 3...is there a saviour out there? An Arod? A Joe Mauer? A Johan Santana? or are we pretty much F'ed. As of now (and this definitely will change by next June), the top 3 prospects look like LHP David Price (Vanderbilt), RHP Matt Harvey (high school) and C Matt Wieters (Georgia Tech). Do any of those players you just mentioned go by the title "Messiah" The pitchers look real good, especially the HS ones. There's gonna be a future few aces there - the draft certainly will be better than this years. I'd take Price if he can perform at the level another Vanderbilt product is pitching at right now. Yeah, the next Roy Oswalt sounds good to me. :)
  3. I like how Big Z has kept the pitch count minimal so far. It bodes well for his ability to finish what he has started.
  4. Fred you are the man but I think the line for Maholm is a bit off. By a run.
  5. So does Carlos have a serious shot at the NL Cy Young award?
  6. The only thing that could brighten this dreary August night is for Big Z to prevent a certain something from happening resulting in the thing we do not speak of.
  7. You nailed it. When Dusty managed the Giants, I recall Jim Rome on a few occasions addressing the fact that Baker was always incredibly thin-skinned. And it has proven true in Chicago. The act has grown old. The 2003/2004 seasons were Dusty's window of opportunity to get it done in Chicago. The window is shut and sealed now.
  8. I won't believe it until I see the highlight with my own eyes. :D
  9. I second that notion. Novoa gives me a painful feeling in my stomach. And just as you say that, he induces Belliard into a DP. 8)
  10. I second that notion. Novoa gives me a painful feeling in my stomach.
  11. Wainwright with the pinpoint control so far. 8)
  12. An OBP of .750 for Fast Freddy tonight. Not bad.
  13. Juan Pierre is mentioned in a Jay Z song? Gee, I never heard that one before! Make me appreciate the local announcers a bit more.
  14. Thanks for coming out Jacque. Walmund appreciates your lack of support.
  15. What a shame. The Cubs with some help from the rookie pitchers have held the Cards to 2 earned runs in 13 innings in the series thus far but it looks like both games will be losses.
  16. I don't expect anything less when they do these in-game interviews. Injuries, injuries, injuries. The grand excuse to cover up for consistently flawed managing.
  17. So are we witnessing the coming of age for Rich Hill? He has been stringing together some good outings and looks VERY GOOD today. It would be great to have a couple solid lefty starters between Hill and Marshall.
  18. I'm on the Reds bandwagon for winning the division now. Is the camera angle bad or is the umpire granting a generous outside corner tonight?
