  1. He scored 62 points in 33 mins. Not bad lol. I still hate him.
  2. Ok so lets go with the theory that Jones sucked last year because he played hurt, and his uncle died. Fine I can go with that. But what about his 2004 numbers 254 .315 .427 .742 Ummm those suck, so whats the excuses behind these numbers? And to the comment about Corey saying "its just a game" give me a break. It sure does seem like you are trying to say that Jones has those "intangibles" that teams like in players. Ok when do we start getting players that have the "tangibles" that help teams win? Pierre said his game doesnt translate well to paper, and that seems like what you are trying to say about Jones. Well it might help if we get some players who look good on paper.
  3. a team w/ a 100 mil payroll shouldn't need platoon buddies for their corner OFer's. Good in theory, but what RF was out there that's far superior? Unfortunately, Giles & Abreu were pipedreams. Bring on Rondell White. YES If we're forced into this crap, let's at least have some depth. White or C. Wilson should start on this team, but we should get them even though they won't because they aren't "athletic". [rant]What bloody good does it do to be athletic in baseball? Is being athletic going to get you more hits? more extra base hits? More K's pitching? No, they don't do any of that. The only thing you could remotely claim it helps you is on a small handful of defensive plays, and I'm sure glad we sacrificed a vast majority of our offensive output trying to look good while we glide to the ball in the field.[/rant] BTW, that was directed at Hendry's comments, not at anyone else. Really, I think if Hendry adds a player like Eduardo Perez, White or Craig Wilson and keeps Walker and Patterson, I think we'll be all right. That is as long as the pitching comes through. After hearing Hendry tonight after the Jones signing, CPatt is gone. He basically said the only reason they tendered him a contract was because teams weren't willing to deal for him because of the possibility of him being non-tendered. He also said he will do whats best for the Cubs first(yea I believe that  ) and whats best for Corey 2nd. So I think the probability of Corey being on the Cubs next year is very very slim.
  4. The Packers suck. Heres to hoping our D just beats the hell out of Favre, and sends him on his marry way to retirement.
  5. Alex Gonzalez Barry Bonds Jim Edmonds Sean Casey(CUB KILLER) Corey Patterson(not personally but I think he is definatly hated by many) Angel Hernandez(Umpire who threw out Mongo) Shawn Estes
  6. After hearing Hendrys comments after the signing of Jones, Corey is gone. He basically said the reason they tendered him a contract was because teams weren't willing to offer anything in a trade because of the possibility of him being non-tendered. He said he will do what's best for the cubs first(yea right) and whats best for Corey 2nd. Corey is not on this team in 2006.
  7. you're an idiot. Run where?Back to the dugout after he K's 120 times? Seriously, Hendry's fascination with running and defense this offeseason really shows that he thinks he is copying the White Sox.......Jim you are a moran!
  8. Because the Cubs signed Jaque Jones :(
  9. I don't think too many people are surprised, just disgusted. Disgusted is an over- reaction. They have no idea what JJ will do in a Cubs uniform. I would have never guessed & most baseball people I have spoken to, would have never guessed that D.Lee would turn into Pujols in 05'. I'm willing to see it play out, before I completely chastise Hendry & Cubs management. This is why grading teams & GM's on their off-season is absolutely ridiculous. My comment has nothing to do with these quotes. TBCF, I think your sig is a slap in the face to all the "good cub fans" that post here, and if it wasnt a family board Id like to tell you where you could shove it. Seriously, why even put something like that in your sig besides to be a smart ass? Mods and Tim, my apologies if this is out of line, but I couldnt sit here seeing his sig over and over and not say something.
  10. Derek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Kenny Lofton, Mark Grudzelaniek,Eric Karros Juan Pierre, Mark Prior, Carlos Zambrano, Matt Clement, Moises Alou, Michael Barrett, Ryan Dempster,Jerome Williams, Matt Murton! Oh the pain!!! Jim you shouldn't have! How dare you!!! HAHAHA you are right, Jim Hendry is GOD!!! Sign him up to a 10 year extension....woohooo I love mediocrity!!!!
  11. By the way Lovie named Grossman the starter vs the Pack today. Just in case there were any doubts
  12. so did i, except i jumped up. i can only imagine how many bears fans did likewise. oh man, and that first completion was golden. i wasn't at the game but i wouldn't have been surprised if the spaceship inside soldier field suddenly took off and flew back to wherever it came from at that point. Yea I was laid back in my computer chair relaxing, and then Jon said they were putting Grossman in and I shot straight up. That was an awesome 2nd half last night to watch, it was really a lot of fun.
  13. That's for sure. He was a little more hesitant to make this change, but when push came to shove, he made it. I think he gave Orton every chance to keep the job. I think Lovie played this about as good as one could have. Indeed. I think one thing to take into consideration is how healthy Rex truly was before today. I think that if he was in better condition, Kyle might have gotten the hook in a quicker fashion. I wanted Rex earlier, but I can't really complain about Lovie's timeline. When I saw Rex getting ready to come in I bolted up in my seat (went from laying down on my couch to sitting somewhat upright really) and was pumped. That was a move that had to be done. And I'm somewhat happy it happened midgame. I feel the hype surrounding Rex's first appearance being announced days in advance would have been too much of a distraction, and I don't like QB's to be too jacked up for a game, which he would have been if he was named starter on Tuesday before the game. Now he got the first game action jitters out of the way. He's also going to a place where he has already won in the past. Did anybody notice Peter King's fine fifteen note on the Bears? Last week he had the Bears 8th, after the Pittsburgh loss. Dallas, Tampa, Carolina and Pitt were all behind the Bears, and Atlanta was 15th. He basically said the loss to Pitt wasn't that big of a deal. This week he moved the Bears down to 10th, and put Carolina and Pittsburgh ahead of the Bears. Pitt, I won't argue. But the Bears just swept the NFC South, they already beat Carolina and dominated a good team at home one week after a loss that he said wasn't a big deal. How do they go down? And later he said: "How are the Bears going to win in January with that offense?" Does anybody think Peter went to bed a little early on Sunday after coming off a caffeine high? No mention of Grossman. The team was rated lower after winning a big game at home against a good but desperate team (desperate teams usually win even matchups). Peter, they aren't going to battle with the offense you last saw. Grossman won't put up 300 yards and 3 TDs a game, but this team no longer has to hold the opposition to less than 7 to have a good chance to win. Agreed I thought the timing was good too. Rex said he felt fully healthy for the Pitt game for the first time. So basically Lovie gave Kyle a game and a half to show him something, and Kyle didnt step up to the challenge. Rex is going to take more chances and he will probably throw a pick here and there while taking a chance. However, with the Bears D they can afford a pick like last nights(if it wasnt fumbled) because more than likely Atl isnt going to drive 99 yards on them so the Bears would have got the ball back with good field position and been in a position to score again. If Grossman can come in and score 10 points a half(which is more than Kyle was doint) I like our chances in any game as I dont see our D giving up more than 20 points to very many teams. As for Peter King, it doesnt surprise me. Watching Cold Pizza today and Skip Bayless had Carolina as the #1 team in the NFC with the Bears 2nd and the Seahawks 4th. How can anyone put Carolina ahead of the Bears after the way the Bears handled them and the entire NFC South. Also how can the Seahawks be #4? While I dont think they are as good as their record, they have to be a top 2 team along with the Bears. Also I would like the Bears chances against Seattle. The Bears showed last night against the #1 running team in the NFL that you cant run on them, and that was with 3 starters out.
  14. Moose just on Comcast saying he was out of character by getting in Kyles face the way he did. He said that the last few weeks they have only been kicking field goals, and he just wanted to score a TD bad. Said he apologized to Kyle, and Kyle said he did also. Sounds really excited to have Grossman in there though.
  15. Also, props need to be given to Bernard Berrian. He had a good day as a punt returner(no fumbles). Also gave a nice boost to the offense. Nice to see him make some plays
  16. Vasher and Tank Johnson were just interviewd on Comcast. You could say they were a little happy about Gman. Vasher said the team gave Gman the game MVP in the lockerroom. Johnson said it was nice to be able to sit on the sidelines for 4-5 minutes at a time after Gman came in. Man this game got me pumped.
  17. I understand it not happening last week aslo. Rex said during his interview after the game, last week was the 1st week he has felt 100%. They gave Kyle basically 1 and a half games to show more after Rex said he was 100% and when he didnt they made the change.
  18. Lovie being interviewed on Comcast right now. Wouldnt say that Gman is starting next week, but I think its pretty obvious that Grossman is the starting Qb vs the Pack.
  19. Ill say it again, I hope Kyle goes to the sidelines and watches what is happening in the game. Kyle has talent, and I think this can only help him in getting better.
  20. LOL Yeah he doesnt really know what he is saying does he? I dont think he is going to sleep much tonight. This team has me excited now. Orton on now says he was disappointed with his first half, Gman played great. Said Lovie made a good move, he wasnt executeing at all. Says he will take the same approach, feels he will still do everything the same, and he knows he is a young QB and will improve. Says this wont set him back. You can tell hes disappointed, but hes being a stand up guy. Says Moose apologized but he has no problem with Moose doing that. He is an emotional guy and understands why he did.
  21. ESPN gives lovefests to everyone..makes me glad that 2/3's of these announcers are nearly done calling NFL games. I agree with what you are saying, but Urlacher seems to take a lot of crap when its undeserved. It was nice seeing him get the props he deserved on a National game.
  22. If the game doesn't matter, but Orton out there :P Hmm now there is an interesting question. If the Bears win next week, do you sit Gman and start Orton so there is no chance he gets hurt, or do you want Gman to get some more game experience?
  23. There is no room for that kind of talk in this thread right now :P
  24. Also, Thank you ESPN for the lovefest shown for Urlacher tonight. He is a stud, and maybe Sporting News will realize this. Defensive MVP of the League=Brian Urlacher!
  25. Vick has to be ready to get out of Chicago. Thank you Pitt for pissing off this D. And to think we have 2 starters not playing.
