This is a completely lame standard to hold Barrett to. Yes, professionalism went out with red leather jackets. Give me a break. I'm not even sure what point you are trying to make here. You don't like Michael Barrett, we get it. The fight was almost entirely Zambrano's fault. It's pretty obvious to everyone. Why does Barrett have to sit there and take a tongue lashing from one of the worst regular starting pitchers in baseball this year? Zambrano was a complete joke today. Imagine the nerve of him to tell another player to "keep their head in the game." What a delusional maniac. My point is that it seems to me that many people are making Barrett the victim here. Zambrano is not the first Cub pitcher to have a problem with Barrett. Prior and Maddux both have had problems with him in the past. Z is/was stupid. Z should not have done what he did. Barrett on the other hand instigated the altercation by pointing to the freaking scoreboard after he made two stupid mistakes on one play. It's seems to me that both are in the wrong here. No we are all saying its both of their faults but Z was the instigator. He was calling out somebody for making 2 mistakes on one play in front of his teammates. What about all the mistakes Z made while pitching today, or this year? Z needs to look his punk ass in the mirror and quit blaming others for his sucking.

Agreed; I'm just saying that it takes two to tango and that Barrett gets SOME of the blame. This may be just debating semantics, but my comments started in response to Mizzou's post that it was ALL Zambrano's fault, while I'm saying that it's MAINLY Zambrano's fault, but partially Barrett's as well. I suspect we're really thinking the same but just using different semantics. Yea I think Mizzou is bout the only one whos saying its all fault one way.

Do we even know for sure that Barrett is the one that got crossed up on that ball? I don't think anybody knows for sure, but Lou's postgame comments suggested that he thought Barrett was to blame (although that may be a biased thought based on his general feelings toward Barrett). In any case, even if the passed ball wasn't Barrett's fault, the throwing error certainly was. And all the hits Z gave up were his fault so if Z pitched like a competent major league pitcher rather than pitching like hes Scott Eyres twin then all of this is avoided.

Whole situation is avoided if Zambrano isn't a baby, or doesn't try and blame his team for the 13 hits and six earned runs. Whole situation is also avoided if Barrett plays like a competent major league catcher rather than committing both a passed ball and an error to allow a run to score, then following Zambrano to the clubhouse for more. Zambrano's mainly to blame, but Barrett isn't innocent here. Do you know if it was Z or MB who messed up the sign? Nope nobody does. Runner on 2nd they are using a new set of signs. Sorry but it wouldnt surprise me either way if MB messed it up, or if Z wasnt thinking and was pissed and messed it up.

I'd be pissed if I was Zambrano because of how much I sucked today. Z gave up 13 hits. 13 hits!! Six of the seven runs he allowed were earned. Zambrano sucked today, plain and simple. At least half of those should have been outs. The defense was really bad. Thats baseball. Z needs to be a man and quit blaming others. Good pitchers overcome defensive lapses, not let it explode into a disaster.

No, it's not 100% Zambrano's fault. Barrett definitely was in the wrong as well. They're both to blame.If Zambrano actually had the ability to control his emotions and not act like a baby, this would have never happened. Zambrano came into the dugout and started mouthing Barrett, not the other way around. It's his fault. Again, the point is that it's not ALL his fault. Largely, yes, but Barrett without question was in the wrong as well.In an ideal world, Barrett shouldn't have went after Z and mouthed back. But what kind of self respecting person is going to just sit there while some idiot embarrasses him in front of his teammates? I don't blame Barrett one bit for standing up for himself. To me the manner in which Z approached Barrett is the key to this whole thing. Pointing at his head and insulting Barrett was the most childish thing I have seen in a long, long time. And if I were Barrett (being already frustrated, angry, defensive and not particularly bright), I wouldn't respond well to that puerile crap either. Who touched who first here is irrelevant. None of it would have happened if Z said what he had to say in something even remotely resembling an adult manner. Barrett responded poorly, but Z was the spark that lit the powder keg. I agree. Like I said in another post, when Z snapped and started yelling at MB in front of all his teammates, I really dont blame MB for pointing at the scoreboard. The more I think about it, I think Barrett deserves blame! Carlos went up to the clubhouse while MB was on the bench. Obviously, Barrett ended up following Z and a second fight ensued. That was unnecessary. MB has played horribly this year. Hell, his stupidity turned an already bad outing into a rout (coupled with some of the other dumb things he's done in recent games...) Would Barrett have followed Z down there if Z hadn't started the first fight? Or if Lou had taken control? And who knows? Maybe Z was shouting profanities about Barrett's mother from the clubhouse? Long story short, Z at the very least antagonized Barrett and goaded him into the first confrontation. Was Barrett wrong to follow Barrett to the clubhouse? Absolutely. But this wasn't near so much his fault as Lou is pretending it is. And here I was thinking Z was the one with split personalities

Randy Bush probably had a press conference because situations like this demand upper management oversight. Lou has obviously lost control of the team, and since Jim apparently wasn't available, Randy was the next best thing. At first I assumed they'd traded Barrett inside of two minutes, though. Hendry is out of town. Its just a shame he will be coming back to the town.

I think it was a threat to bring up players and not play some people already on the roster... He specifically spoke about getting "people who can catch the damn ball." Barrett and Murton top that list. Yeah, but I think that he was also calling out Hendry. When he said, "I know what I would do," that was definitely directed at Hendry's inability to field a competitive team. I agree, Im glad to finally see him getting pissed. Lou definalty isnt blameless, but these players need to start playing like they are ML'ers. I dont know how Lou has kept his temper this entire time.

It really looks like it's all Carlos to me. Barrett stepped toward Zambrano, but he didn't really seem all that aggressive to me. It certainly didn't look like Michael was going to take a swing or anything. Z should be suspended and fined. Barrett charged at Z and then Z shoved Barrett. Lol Barret did not charge at Z. He might have stepped towards him but definatly didnt charge lol.

Give me a break. The only one to blame for Z's unhappiness is himself.
