  1. Hell I still cant believe the didnt give warnings b4 yesterdays game.
  2. This is from Peter King. The SI-Rex Grossman Hatred Parade Continues. I dont care that Grossman is a bear. I want him to piss all over the league, next year. I want him to go bananas. I never personally rooted for another player in any sport like I do for him now. Is he talking 27th out of all the QB's in the league? If so give me a damn break.
  3. The Sox are sneaking right up on KC however, so before long the worst team may very well be the Sox. Fecal League Standings Team W L Pct GB Texas 26 43 0.377 --- Cincinnati 27 43 0.386 0.5 Kansas City 28 42 0.400 1.5 Baltimore 29 40 0.420 3.0 white sox 28 37 0.431 4.0 Pittsburgh 30 39 0.435 4.0 Washington 30 39 0.435 4.0 Houston 30 39 0.435 4.0 San Francisco 30 38 0.441 4.5 Tampa Bay 30 37 0.448 5.0 St. Louis 30 36 0.455 5.5 CUBS 31 37 0.456 5.5 Its amazing the Sox at one time were 24-21 I believe, and now they are 28-37. Talk about a bad month.
  4. He didnt get the same thing as Lee. Young misses 1 game, where DLee misses 5. This is not accurate, either. DLee misses 5 games and Young just gets his regular start moved back one game, so essentially he gets nothing. Well true.
  5. He didnt get the same thing as Lee. Young misses 1 game, where DLee misses 5.
  6. Looks like the Cards have put Edmonds and Looper on the DL. Who didnt see Looper going to the DL eventually since hes never been a starter. Cards call up Cates, and the almighty Skip Shumaker.
  7. LOW BLOW Although I am a HUGE supporter of the great Demond "Bob" Sanders, it should be known that I am a closet Bears fan and have been all of my life. I am not, nor have I ever been, a fan of the Colts, and I was cheering against them in the Super Bowl. So long as Bob and Dallas have good games, it doesn't upset me one bit if the team fails. I was upset with the outcome of the game, but I felt like a proud parent that 2 of my boys were able to get rings. But you are a Hawkeye fan correct? I dont think an Illinois fan can vote for a Hawkeye. Anybody know abucks allegiance to a college team?
  8. I think the difference is whether or not it's a routine. Admiring a HR for a few steps everytime is showboating, but if you take extra long one time with some other theatrics, thats' showing somebody up. Well Soriano may not do the backpeddaling to first base everytime, but he does do something basically everytime. He just changes it up from HR to HR lol, hes a little more creative I guess.
  9. Where are you getting 1 game from, the man is serving 5 like Lee. And does anyone know what Gerald Perry did, I know he got thrown out along with Peavy but I never heard why. Hes a starting pitcher he misses 1 start
  10. He ripped Jake Peavy's head off... after Peavy charged in from behind and tried tackling DLee. Ya he was trying to get Peavy off DLees back. Big freaking deal
  11. And Young only gets 1 game for throwing near somebodys head. BS
  12. Wow I will gladly accept 5 games. Maybe even with an appeal he gets it knocked down to 4. But why in the hell is Perry suspended and Peavs ass isnt?
  13. It isn't just Cardinals fans that are saying it was showboating. I've said it as well. Yes, guys showboat all the time. And I'd say that everytime someone does it, you risk you or one of your teammates getting thrown at. Young was wrong to throw it where he did, but if Soriano just runs the bases, Lee isn't tossed for fighting. Showboating creates tension and anomosity. You're welcome to do it, but be prepared for consequences. I don't really see it as being much different than sticking your finger in a pot of boiling water. You can try it, but you're probably going to get burned. Pujols is guilty of admiring his home runs. Gary Bennett (when he was with San Diego) and Pujols had a big blow up a few years back when Pujols purposely took out the starting catcher (Ramon Hernandez?) unnecessarily. Every team has their showboats and everytime they pull a stunt, there is a high probability of retaliation. What gets overlooked here is that Soriano's actions could have done even more damage. What if Lee does get hit in the head there? Young was in the wrong for what he did, no doubt. But, Young wouldn't have thrown at Lee at all if Soriano wasn't showing up Wells the day before. Who exactly is the player trying to cater to when they trot backwards or stand there and admire the shot? The fan? Personally, I just like the fact the ball went over the fence. Doesn't really matter to me how he gets around the bases, it's a home run regardless. His manager and/or his teammates? They've seen home runs everyday of their playing careers, another one where you stand there waiting for a show of appreciation from your teammates shouldn't create that much of a rise? A guy really has zero reason to stand there and watch their home run. That's what ESPN is for. That's what the big SuperTron screen in most parks is for. The only real reaction one should expect from admiring your shot or showboating is a negative reaction from the other team. It's just not professional to show up the opponent. And the opposing team will likely resort to something unprofessional in return to make their point. I said it was showboating. I just dont see the difference of what Soriano did, and numerous other sluggers do. Thats why I think it was BS for the Padres to get pissed. Do they say that crap after everybody else showboats against them? I highly doubt it.
  14. Yep - we saw Sammy's hop quite often during the glory years. And Albert is the worst. I don't know why nobody does anything to him. Sorry Keener for adding another perspective to this thread full of, well, other perspectives. Sorry, I just have to many Cards fans friends that jump all over everybody else for showboating but think what Albert does is nothing. You admit to it so again Ill apologize. But I will say this, Sammys hop to me is nowhere near as bad as doing what Soriano did, or what Albert does. Sammys hop lasted for a split second, where as the others soak it up for quite a bit longer.
  15. I think he might be pushing top 5 of all time when hes done. The fact that he continues to stay healthy and put up these numbers is amazing. I dont think Pujols will challenge any of these records. His body is much more apt to getting injured then Arods is. I can see Arod playing for awhile longer, but I think Pujols will break down before he reaches any of these.
  16. Can you make a package deal to trade Barrett for Estrada? Consider it doing your Cubs duty. Hell I already picked up Braun hoping for that effect.
  17. Peavy is a punk ass is the explanation. He was the first one out of the dugout and jumps on Lees back. I laugh my ass off everytime I see Perry come out and take him down.
  18. Ok gotcha. Makes sense now
  19. This is why I like the wait-for-the-unhappy-Kobe-to-hit-the-free-agent-market-in-two-years plan. in 2 years, he'll want $30 mil/year or something outlandish. In 2 years he'll be 30, too though. Still pretty young albeit with alot of mileage. Hell look at the contract Ben Wallace got from us, and he was over 30.
  20. The Sox are sneaking right up on KC however, so before long the worst team may very well be the Sox.
  21. Actually that explains that Texas was stupid for trading a guy who hit like that in the minors after only 200 ML at bats. Especially because he was only 22 and 23 those years. I know this is foreign thinking for most but young players do take some time to adjust to major league pitching. It is the last level of development. Too many think they are done once they have arrived from AAA. Im confused, as that is basically what I was saying by stating it was stupid for Texas to trade him after 200 ML at bats.
  22. Ah yes, good thing we have the Cards fan to show up and tell us what is and isnt showboating. Was it showboating, yes. Have other players showboated just as bad, with nothing being said about it? Yes. Whats the difference of running to the base backward, and walking half way to first base admiring your shot? You should know first hand about that one.
  23. Actually that explains that Texas was stupid for trading a guy who hit like that in the minors after only 200 ML at bats.
  24. Look I love Z as well, but doesnt it bother anyone else that he sucks for 2 months, then decides its a new season after the fight. Then proceeds to pitch 3 gems in a row? Where the hell was that the first 2 months? Its like he just decided one day to stop sucking.
  25. Yes, but he has a soccer guy over Noc in his sig? Pretty easy choice
