    I blame Hendry for getting squat for Barret, along with countless other things. This team cant afford to have a defensive minded catcher who cant hit(see Koyie Hill). We already have black holes at SS, RF(when Jones starts) and now catcher. Hendry is to blame for this big pile of crap thats being put on the field, and for not giving Soto a shot to see what he can do.

What are you talking about? I never said Barrett was to blame for anything in my post buddy, take it easy. I know you didnt in your post. However the "enjoy him SD" to me means you are pretty glad hes gone. Barret is being made a scapegoat by this pathetic ass organization and its a bunch of bull. Every damn year this team sucks, they seem to find 1 guy who is basically the scapegoat, instead of looking their fat ass faces in the mirror, and realizeing the people running this team(Im looking at you Hendry) are the problem. Ok rant over sorry.

    That was from before he signed with Texas and announced he wanted to return. Yep, plain and simple. He said he wanted to get to 600 and that's all. Oh wait, he said he still has passion for the game and feels he's in good enough shape to try and play before leaving on his own terms? What a selfish prick. That quote clearly states he wants to get to 600 before saying goodbye. Why not say I want to win a World Series before saying goodbye? Because Sammy is about Sammy, and nothing more.

    Ya its officially over. This team cant get on any kind of streak to come back from 8.5 back. Add in the fact that Marquis is back to pitching like Jason Marquis, and Lilly is going to get bombed in Chicago during the summer...they are done.

    Yea the fact that Lilly gave up 5 early runs definatly should be overlooked. The offense had chances, and didnt but they still came back. Overcoming a 5 run deficit is not an easy thing to do, and we better get used to it because what we have seen the last 2 nights out of Lilly and Marquis are the real Lilly and Marquis. Its going to be brutal watching them pitch in 95 degree heat, with the wind blowing straight out. Doh. Forgot about Lilly craptacular performance. Yeah, it should be fun watching the real Lilly and Marquis pitch the rest of the year. :puke: 7 IP 6 hits 1 BB and 10k's. I'm not quite sure that's craptacular, but I didn't get to see the game. Was he just unlucky? No he once again gave up the long ball, which is what we get to see for the next 4 years from him. This signing is going to bite us in the ass. He is going to be worthless come summer in Chicago. After the 3rd inning he was good, but spotting the other team 5 runs thru 3 innings is a craptacular performance.

    That is just bad. Jones isnt too far behind him at .234 and Izturis is closing in on them as well at .250. .234 .295 .328 .624 that is just horrible.

    Yea giving away one of the top offensive catchers ='s free Barrett had a couple good years offensively for the Cubs, but this year is much more in line with his career numbers. Not sure that he would qualify as on of the top offensive catchers this year. Yea this years 2 months of play completly outweigh his previous 3 years production. Never mind the fact he was starting to hit in the month of June.

    Agreed. Let Cedeno play everyday and see if last year was a fluke(or just cause of Baker) or see if this year is a fluke. Ronny wouldnt be the first player to suck horribly, and then go down and come back up to be an average player. Right now Cedeno has more upside than any other option.

    I think its a little early to say Angel Guzman is a flop. Hes still pretty young, and looked pretty good starting this year.

    He will probably be re upped for 4 more years. None of this is his fault, its all Michael Barrets, and he got rid of him so hes a genius now.

    there's nothing to take notice of or adjust to. he does not have the talent to be a starter in the major leagues. he was riding a massive hot streak at the beginning of the year, nothing more, nothing less. Time to bring up EPatt and ride that hot streak. Right now, bringing up another guy who plays 2B won't help very much-they need somebody who can bring some offense to the SS position. They might as well bring up Cedeno and let him take another crack at the SS position, and leave Fontenot at 2nd till his bat cools off, with Derosa getting time in RF and at 2nd. Use Theriot as a utility guy, but right now, Cedeno is our best SS in the entire system.
